Mourning doves need to CALM DOWN.

So yesterday I ran a 5K in the morning and then spent basically the whole day playing #FFXIV with friends and so I didn't look at the news and it was great.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@nixCraft/116476432882123782 I just switch over to Linux this year on two of my PCs and they start doing this shit. I'm on Mint at the moment, so maybe I'm inoculated from it for a bit. But what a terrible direction to go in.

Oh good, the utility company has sent an email about their new rate increases! Hooray! Love getting this email every six months. "You can come to a public hearing about this change where we will promptly ignore all your complaints!"

Did I spend all day trying to solve, essentially, a single problem in my code? Yes. Do I feel good about that because I did it myself and as a result know - in my own brain hole - more about this code, how it works, and how to augment/fix problems with it in the future? Also Yes.

I have also just learned about #VSCodium: "VSCodium is a community-driven, freely-licensed binary distribution of Microsoft’s editor VS Code." Now that #Microsoft is trying to force copilot bullshit into PR commit messages, it's probably time to jump off of the default #VSCode. Bonus points: VSCodium, I believe, doesn't phone home a bunch of telemetry and other BS to MS. https://vscodium.com

RE: https://mastodon.social/@nixCraft/116521307476692073 Welp, just removed #Chrome from my work laptop. Switched over to @Vivaldi.

I like how GameStop thinks it has enough money to buy eBay when the nearest GameStop to me was falling apart and looked otherwise about to go out of business until about a month ago when it went out of business. It was right off one of the busiest, six lane stroads in my city.

@Morning1 Yeah we just ate quick and bounced. It was weird being there.

There’s a scene in DTF: St Louis where a character is #running and shouting “on your left!” and a big group of people aren’t moving and I really felt that #cycling

I hate it when my body feels better after eating a big salad versus something heavy and gross. What could it mean? We’ll probably never know.

The cringiest thing I've ever seen is being in a meeting and someone starts writing a prompt for an #AI. It makes me physically recoil seeing that. It's gross. #genAI

#Windows: We got your pc updated overnight! Me: Did I ask you to do that? W: Nope! But I went ahead and closed all the apps you were using to do your work. You're welcome!

A note for the #FFXIV community: Dawntrail is half off ($20) on PSN (and I believe Xbox) right now. I finally made the switch over from my aging PC, and the game does run better on the console. Since it's too expensive to upgrade PCs now, this'll probably be where I play for the next few years.
