A Trump appointed board for the Kennedy center now says that the center is in dire financial trouble and will likely bankrupt. The fox? OBVIOUSLY. Putting trumps name on the building. You can't make this up. #uspol

Someone help me understand what possible reason the manudacturer of this power adapter for my google home hub has for making the text so impossible to read without a magnifying device and a high clntrast filter... Seriously. This information is here so you can understand what sort of power supply you need when your kids (or cat) knock your device off of a shelf and the plug breaks off. Why make it impossible to read? And this isn't only Google. It happens on a ton of devices. Is it so...

I have a friend. Lives with his aging mother. Employed. Has a roof over his head. A few weeks ago we helped him remove the rear seats from his car because he's decided that it's no longer affordable to actually drive back and forth to work. So he. now sleeps in his car when his shifts are close enough together. Let that sink in. Employed. In a house that's paid off. Now i can't claim to have insight into his finances. But the idea that transportation is so e...

On smerconish this morning, theyre talking about division, and theyre touching on social media. I really want to call and rant about corporate social media and soap box about Mastodon, but alas, i have to be an adult and get my Summit deliverables handled. Someone call on my behalf. GO! :D #mastodon #division #socialmedia

So, daily! I guess daily is the new pace at which I need to mitigate zero day kernel flaws. Got it. #linux #kernel #lpe #dirtyfrag #copyfail

Ok Ive been working through the mitigations for the string of kernel vulnerabilities. I think this is all of them. I had Claude spit out a summary. Hope this helps others. NOTE: I have edited this post to better outline the fixes and improve terminology. Plus we've got a CVE designation for dirty frag now. ## Linux Kernel LPE Roundup — May 8, 2026 Four local privilege escalation vulnerabilities in the same bug class (page-cache writes) are actively circulating. Here's wh...

So, how do you make money on youtube? Ask 10 successful youtubers, and they'll tell you the same thing. Diversify. You don’t make significant money from the ad revenue. You make it from merch, or product deals, affiliate links. Youtube makes money from your content, you make money from using their platform to get your viewers off-platform to something that pays you better. A while back, not terribly long. 3 or 4 years if memory serves, Youtube introduced something cool. A merch...

A little while back, I pulled my old Pixel 4 XL out of the closet, charged it up, and threw Grephene on it to tinker with. It has no sim, no data other than wifi, and the plan was to use it with my DJI gimbal for my camera. Which it does. But recently Ive been poking around it graphene just to see how daily-driveable it is. And i'll admit i have to add some google back to it to get the experience I want, but dang, what a nice clean android experience. And the battery! Im gettin...

@marighost I dont use Prox, but for various random linux commands.. ive got a wealth. :D in the journalctl vein. `journalctl -xeu ` ex: `journalctl -xeu httpd` Gives you the specific journal output for the given service. In this example. httpd. Also, `journalctl` is more than boot logs, its all of your logs from anything controlled by systemd. Mounts, services, timers, even sockets. For example. On my system, i have /var/home as a mount. `systemctl` and `journalctl` can give me...

Wonderful. Co-worker just let me know that a clip of one of my streams for work is featured in some kind of offensive, anti-systemd, ai generated, slop with anti-semitic undertones. Guess i'll report that. I'm sure that'll end with an equitable resolution and not just silently get ignored. Being the face of RHEL is exhausting. It wasn't even our engineer who submitted the age verification patch. #linux #rhel

A word of sage advice for all of you homelabbers. I bring to you, from my decades of experience, my wealth of knowledge, and from the depths of my IT grit this piece of information, that I am sure none of you have ever considered before. When you build a new system, staging it in your home office where you have access to it for things like, connecting installation media, and displays, and whatnot, and after your lovingly crafted system is ready to be moved to its new home in your rack in the...
