RE: https://ec.social-network.europa.eu/@EUCommission/117019207924201870 This is actually a bit surprising to me (#Horizon pots are large, and widely scoped, so integration of #Japan does mean significant growth in efforts), but fits well into the #geostrategic framework of weaning off research dependency with the US. Hmm. Wonder what that means for domestic #research #funding, and cross-organizational projects (which are rather typical for Horizon programmes).

Hey, ho #MusicWomenWednesday, let's go! Shonen Knife, a power trio from Osaka, JP. While they've a great Ramones cover album¹, they're really an all-around great band with high-energy songs making the small clubs they usually play in Europe absolutely burst. Lyrics range "Wasabi is fucking spicy!"² over "better superheroing through tomato juice"³ to "hate the slug in my salad": https://shonenknife.bandcamp.com/track/...

The Software Defined Radio Academy 2026 at HAMRADIO Friedrichshafen has just announced its call for participation. I've been there several years; SDRA is a super welcoming event, and both the hallway track and walking the trade fair are a good additional reasons to attend. Plus, the lake constance region *is* rather nice! https://2026.sdra.io/pages/call-for-papers.html #hamradio #sdra #cfp #callforparticipation #callforpapers #SDR

RE: https://mastodon.social/@destevez/116467333014766865 Today, @destevez is at it again: he wrote an in-depth analysis of NB-IoT (one of the LTE-family standards, aimed at lowest data rates) downlink signals. I'm slowly working through it, and I learn a lot! By the way, people might not have noticed, but he shares recordings on Zenodo.org / publishes them within @OpenAIRE ; which makes this data available for people who want to follow along his work, but also for designers of CtFs, R...

A local band for #MusicWomenWednesday! "Malice in Wonderland" (sadly, easily confused, discogs has 14 acts of that name) makes Symphonic Metal; rhythm instrumentation style (esp. bass drum double beats) says it's Melodic Death, too. Don't like to pigeonhole anyways: They're a female-fronted metal band that plays few, but excellent gigs, and has an album with a lot of pretty different highlights. To pick one of these, Cydonia, one with steady base beat...

@derf these are datacenter rackmount GPU servers. you'll need a cold aisle and other datacenter infra to operate them. The GPU memory is soldered onto the core modules (look up what an nvidia H100 looks like). You can't "loot" that, you can at best "squat" that datacenter. I'd definitely be interested in working with an SSD server, even if the EDSFF SSDs won't fit anywhere else but in storage servers and I'll personally have a hard time ordering replacemen...
