Bluetooth audio controls are the worst thing ever. I get into my car sometimes and it picks up the last device which was my wife's phone. The signal is very weak, audio barely plays. But it plays. And it won't stop I press pause. Nothing happens. Why doesn't it just stop playing? Because with Bluetooth you can't control the audio at all at the player, you have to tell the Bluetooth device to stop sending the audio to you. And if you can't, you can't. Insane. Just sto...

The entire world already runs on the most dogshit quality code you'll never see because it's proprietary but it works and makes businesses successful so that's all that matters. If random people weren't allowed to look at code none of the current drama would really be happening. My wife has to use an application at work for updating patient records and everyone has been trained to "never press the Backspace key in the text input fields or it will corrupt the patient's...

"We have been seeing for the last 10 years a series of exponential growth inflection points when it comes to quantum computing capability" vs Within the last year we've seen invention of a slicer method that sped up attacks on MLKEM by a factor of 5 You should be more concerned about the second one than the first one. Only one of them is still broadly theoretical.

This is a weird take though because it's comparing private spending in one industry with public spending in another. How many other private industries spend $50B per year? Well you'd probably have to compare it to an industry's CapEx spending, right? Let's look up 2022 CapEx data Manufacturing $314B Information Technology $253B (the new AI datacenter $50B spending would bump this to $300B I guess??) Utilities $188B Finance & Insurance $178B Commercia...
