Poll time! Is an investigator/inspector at consumer affairs (think Better Business Bureau in US) checking compliance of licensed professionals and protecting consumer rights a “cop” in the ACAB sense? Asking for…a friend. Feel free to discuss in the comments.

If I wanted to run a PostgreSQL query on my masto server which shows my personal home timeline as the result, does anyone have any pointers to guides or even such a query itself? Please boost for reach. #MastoAdmin #SelfHosting #MastoAdmins #PostgreSQL

#GlobalTalk Admins! I’m considering setting up a DokuWiki “Farm” (see below) at globaltalk.network to host my GlobalTalk resources, info about my zones, and, if anyone else is interested, info on their zones under a subdomain relevant to their zone (and likely matched, if they’ve taken the offer of DNS hosting, to their zone subdomain at globaltalk.zone). I’m interested in people’s thoughts – this will be easier than giving each user their own subdomain/subdirectory to host whatever hosting pl...

Given I hate this movie, Prof Dawkins, Adam Sandler, *and* AI so much, gotta admit I’m pretty proud of this one. Where do I pick up my Academy Award?

#GlobalTalk PSA: If anyone is unsure on network ranges, network numbering, and zones, be sure to reach out and I’m happy to discuss. Each network segment will require a unique network number, and an EtherTalk segment only needs a one-number range to support up to 253 EtherTalk devices. (Assigning any more if you have 253 or less devices is a waste.) Modem and Printer ports (if using both) will need a number each. Network numbers across segments do not need to be contiguous, and you can assi...

GlobalTalk admins using non-standard Ethernet interfaces in System 7.1... Can you please PM a screenshot of your Network and MacTCP settings (first screen only for MacTCP, examples attached) – 1 bit B/W preferred. I'm wanting to make my AIR manual addendum, and GlobalTalk setup instructions and files more generic. I'd also be interested in which Ethernet drivers were necessary to get your interface to work with AIR under System 7.1. Lastly, I'm interested in having a...

@zzt@mas.to it feels like the sea lion cartoon, except before the first panel the sea lion said disagreeable stuff in front of the carriage directed at the passengers, while it was wearing a Firefox polo shirt. *Any* expression of dissent against the individual, *or the company* is then taken personally, called unreasonable, chased down, their own statements always above reproach and able to be moulded to be serious or sardonic as suits their DARVO tactics. Gah, it makes me angry just thinking...
