RE: https://techhub.social/@Techmeme/116984595782967035 The AI era? Oh, they must mean "the era where you slap AI on your slop useless product to get millions of dollars in investment" before quitting for ethical concerns and starting up a new frau... I mean, startup? See the recent OpenAI former CTO's startup. Valuation for nothing. I used to be so hyped for technology, now it's a continuous rant.

So now they are burning the books, because "destroying the source material after copying is fair use" Remember who else burned books in past? At this point, some #AI companies should be considered perpetrators of crimes against humanity. You are purchasing rare and unique books, cultural heritages, TO BURN THEM AFTER FEEDING INTO YOUR DAMN MODELS. https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/ai-companies-demand-printed-books-copyright-concerns-1810831

Is #Mastodon the next target of #AI models? For the past couple of days we're seeing an increase of traffic from "AI Clouds" on our Mastodon instance, possibly for data scraping. Does anyone else have noticed a similar behaviour?

The idea of "too dangerous to be released" reminds me a lot of the Oppenheimer movie. We risk destroying the world: let's do it anyway. What I truly can't understand is how people can be excited by the lies and blatant bullshit spread by some tech people. But then, I remind myself how someone said he doesn't like smart people. And everything turns a bit more clear. #AI #glassdoor #anthropic #openai

Working with a company that is trying to implement #AI in their workflows: - let's skip for the moment the environmental damage you created ( #ESG ) - you're trying to create a library of documents where the solution is a #database - each document is 18 pages long: that's another #environmental damage - your productivity will entirely rely on someone else - the solution is method, not the tool And yet, here we are.

Starting today, I will have a new question to ask my customers when auditing a supplier: are you a customer, or a prisoner of your provider?
