Here are my findings on the hardware of the Orbit Player vs the SensePlayer. The Orbit Player uses a MediaTek Helio P22 (octa-core Cortex-A53, 4 1.8 GHZ cores and 4 1.5 GHZ cores). It has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The SensePlayer uses a MediaTek Helio P35 (octa-core Cortex-A53 again, 4 2.3 GHZ cores and 4 1.8 GHZ cores). It has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Both devices use the same exact GPU. So basically both the Orbit Player and the SensePlayer use the exact same SOC exce...

NLS announced that sometime in the future they will add synced reading positions to BARD Mobile and the DA2 and other BARD platforms, so that you can stop a book on one and start it again on another from where you left off. #NFB26

I went to the non-24 session, which is hosted by Vanda Pharmaceuticals. They had a lot of good information about how non-24 works and its symptoms and they answered people's questions about it. However, there were some odd things about the session. First, they didn't talk about treatment at all, and were forbidden from talking about that. They said it was a legal requirement that they can only talk to groups about the condition itself and not treatment, and it seems that they don't...

@Tamasg Is it possible to link TGSpeechBox to an MPL 2 library, or does it need to use eSpeak NG for IPA generation? Prism is a library for sending speech to many different screen readers and TTS backends depending on what is installed, and in addition to just speaking to the system's sound output, some backends also support speak_to_memory, which returns the PCM audio data to a callback. However, on Linux there are no backends that support speak_to_memory, and I need that if I am going...

@hmig@front-end.social @matt@toot.cafe I could help with that. I have access to NVDA, JAWS, and Narrator on Windows 11, VoiceOver on MacOS 15, Orca on Linux (both Arch Linux and the BT Speak), VoiceOver on iOS 26, and TalkBack on Android 16. I also have a 20-cell Braille display and a Monarch if Braille testing is important.

For anyone interested in The Lord of the Rings, there is an amazing audiobook with music, sound effects, different voices for the characters, etc, all done by one person. It almost sounds like you're watching a movie even though its an audiobook. It was published for free by its creator, and I have been hosting it on my server for a while because the original website is hard to download from. I also fixed the ID3 tags to make media players organize the files correctly. https://lotr.emass...
