Hidden hunger is a form of malnutrition where someone may eat enough food but still lack essential vitamins and minerals their body needs. That is why we fight harder to share our skills in growing different kinds of nutritious food and make food production more sustainable. 📝A full plate should not only fill the stomach it should nourish the body. #HiddenHunger #Nutrition #FoodSecurity #SustainableFarming #solarpunk #doomsday

From organic waste to new life! Banana peels, cassava peels, leaves and other farm residues are left to decompose and return nutrients to the soil. A simple example of turning what looks like waste into a resource for growing food. Fellow farmers, how do you turn organic waste into a resource on your farm? #organicfarming #foodsecurity #WasteReduction #solarpunksunday #permaculture #soilhealth

Today was a great harvest day in our demonstration garden! Pupils from Jerome Academy Nursery and Primary School first had a practical lesson on what causes plants to fail as they grow and how to overcome these challenges organically. For almost one and a half hours, they asked questions, shared ideas, and learned directly from the garden. Then came the harvest. They harvested spinach and sukuma wiki, taking the fresh greens back to school for their lunch. We are happy to share our harvest w...

Dirty hands, healthy food. These hands have touched the soil, planted seeds, cared for the crops, and now they are holding the results of fresh cabbages and tomatoes. Farming may leave our hands dirty, but it gives us something priceless: #food, #knowledge, and #hope for a healthier future. #DirtyHands #Farming #HealthyFood #SustainableAgriculture #GrowFood

One of the beautiful things about #permaculture is learning that a farm doesn't have to be separated from #nature. We create a farming system where plants, animals, insects, birds, and people can all have a place. Our bananas are not only for us. 🐒 Monkeys and birds sometimes come to enjoy the fruits too and we see that as part of being in touch with #nature Permaculture teaches us to work with nature, not against it. When we create diverse and healthy ecosystems, the farm becomes more th...

It hurts to see #food and #life burned like this. Our neighbor cleared the land by burning without asking, and honestly, we blame ourselves for not reaching out earlier to explain the damage this causes. Their land once looked healthier, full of life and providing good habitat. But now, the ecosystem has been damaged and the soil left exposed. Seeing banana plantation fading makes this even harder. 😔 If we don't start teaching and engaging our neighbors, this could happen again and the...

The well is taking longer than expected, but we are making steady progress. As we dig deeper, we have passed through different soil layers and found a few small water-bearing layers, giving us hope that the main water table is near. Following the experts' advice, we recently shared an update on our GoFundMe explaining what is needed next. Thank you to everyone who has donated. Your support is making this possible. If you can help again, even with a small donation, we would be deeply gratefu...

Hi to our #donors and well-wishers, We have posted a new update on our fundraiser. We have also reactivated our fundraiser again as we continue working toward completing the project. We have reached the stage where things have become harder to break through, even though we are close to the finish line. The update explains everything that is happening on the ground, and we hope that, with your continued support, we can get through this stage. Thank you again for your generous support.https:...

On another note, we always welcome #nature to our farm. This young chameleon is a special visitor, We have now found him or her on our land three different times, yet we are not sure why, unless they keep the wondering here by mistake🥹 Do you think seeing a chameleon is just a coincidence, or does it say something about the health of the environment? #naturephotography #wildlife #biodiversity #ProtectNatureNow #chamelion

The clay bricks have arrived at the well site. These high-quality bricks are suitable for water proofing the well and anywhere where there is water. It took us time to find the right ones, but the search was worth it👍 To all our #donors your support is making a huge difference as you can see from the progress we have so far at the well site, thank you once again for standing with us. #mastonews #foodsecurity #regenerativeagriculture #solarpunk #gardening

Our water well project has now reached a more challenging stage. The team has encountered large stones underground, including one so heavy that it took four people working together to turn the pulley and remove it. Today marks Day 5 since the project began. We are deeply grateful to everyone standing with us. Your support is making a real difference and helping this work move forward on the ground. We continue to welcome and appreciate every contribution to our fundraiser as we get closer to s...

Our crops are slowly fading because our land has no reliable water source. Each dry day threatens the harvest, weakens our mission, and puts years of hard work at risk. We refuse to give up on our dream of growing nutritious food, empowering young people through sustainable agriculture, and protecting our environment. And so we decided to come back and share with you what we are passing through, and here your donation, no matter the amount, will help us secure a reliable water source, save o...

Hi, #Mastodon family Once again, we are reaching out with hope. First, thank you to everyone who helped us purchase our land which now belongs to us, and we are deeply grateful for your support. Today, we are launching a new fundraiser for the next important step: digging a permanent water well on our farm. We have tried several ways to secure water, but they haven't been reliable. A well will provide a sustainable water source, helping us grow food, care for our projects, and empower...

We worked together with the pupils and the staff of Jerome Nursery and Primary School to harvest our maize, which was ready for harvest. ¥¥The best part is that we donated all of it to the school. As one of our partner schools, we are happy to be supporting each other! The donated maize will be milled into flour, which will provide meals for the school for several weeks.💪 @sustainable_schools@mas.to 💪 #foodsecurity #education #farmingdairy #SustainableAgriculture

The so-called ordinary people #farmers, are quietly feeding the nation and welcoming visitors with fresh, naturally grown food. Drive just outside Kampala, and you will find local markets like this, where many travelers stop to buy healthy produce. More people are choosing fresh local food over processed junk food a choice that benefits their health while supporting the hardworking farmers who grow it. Every purchase at a local market helps nourish families, strengthen communities, and sust...

Rain has totally ghosted us on this side. Thankfully, our banana plantation is still doing well😊 2 days ago we removed unwanted weeds, and we are preparing to harvest our maize which is now ready. We plan to use the maize stalks as mulches, which will help keep moisture in the #soil, protect the roots from strong sunshine, and improve soil health during this dry period #regenerativefarming #hiddenhunger #foodsecurityinnovations #sustainableproject

Today, young people came together with great energy and teamwork to plant trees and restore our environment. This activity shows how the youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also the changemakers of today. Each tree planted is a step toward a cleaner, greener, and healthier planet for all. Let’s keep inspiring others to join hands in protecting Mother Earth. #TreePlanting #YouthForClimate #EcoAction #Environment #Sustainability #UgandaEcoYouths #ClimateAction #GreenGeneration

Hi #Mastodon family some people have been asking why we don’t post the maize on our land hhh. So here it is, our maize field looks all green and healthy 😉. And the funny part is 🌽😂 the maize we gave the least attention is now among the most developed around us. Harvest time is getting closer and we can’t wait to share with the community 😉 In #Africa maize are used to make posho, a common school meal. Fresh maize can also be roasted or boiled and tastes great 😉. #foodproduction #africanfood

Hi #Mastodon folks 😊 come smile with usʘ‿ʘ Today we revisited our banana plantation after mulching, and it’s thriving. The land gives us such good vibes green, healthy, and full of life. We are really very happy to see we are on the way to our dreams: becoming a strong support for our community through #foodproduction , uplifting our mothers, children, and ourselves as we fight #hiddenhunger.🍌 #BananaPlantation #FoodSecurity #EndHunger #CommunitySupport #EcoYouth #GrowTogether

We successfully completed mulching our banana plantation, and the plants are now well organized. This was not easy for us because it was challenging to find enough grass for mulching, but we are happy we managed to finish it. Mulching helps in keeping moisture in the soil, improves soil fertility, reduces weed growth, and protects the plants from strong sun and heavy rain. This helps the bananas grow healthier and stronger. #BananaFarming #SustainableFarming #Mulching #ClimateSmartAgriculture

Hi everyone, we need advice from #farmers. We’re not experienced with growing potatoes. We found many already planted on our land, and now they’re flowering. We added soil around each plant as recommended just recently, but we are not sure what to do next. RE: https://mas.to/@econetwork/115852750857850004 We already have crops like bananas, cassava, sweet potatoes, and maize on our land. However we do not yet have vegetables like tomatoes because they need a steady water supply, and we are still figuring out where we can reliably get water for irrigation.
