"A typical hyperscale data centre requires between 100 and 300 megawatts of electricity. That is enough to power as many as 300,000 US homes, or a city of roughly 750,000 people based on the average household size. That is comparable to the populations of cities like Nashville in Tennessee, Charlotte in North Carolina or Edmonton in Alberta, Canada." https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2026/7/3/us-heatwave-raises-alarms-over-ai-data-centre-energy-demands

Last night I #dreamed that our university offices were moving to a new, themed building, and I had to discern whether the techs dressed as mermaids or the techs dressed as Elvis were the staff to help get my stuff to the right location. The orientation delivered by Hillary Clinton was a nice touch.

Why would we choose to measure just a few metabolites instead of doing a broad untargeted survey? In two words: "quantitative precision" This is the first lecture recording I have produced with my new home video setup! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYY31STDYHA #metabolomics

Last night I #dreamed that we scrimped and saved to afford a house larger than we strictly needed, but once we had moved in, we realized the the Roman general we had captured had escaped his captivity. Surely he would not make a big deal of being held hostage by us...
