Progress on one of my 7 in-flight projects this weekend. I have done the CAD re-modelling to fit a physically larger motor and servo after my initial build didn't have enough torque in either to drive or steer. The new chassis base plate is now on the 3D printer. Reassembly will be in around 4 hours if the print is a success. #3dprinting

Our cloud chamber project is now on display in the Arts tent. #EMFCamp

Another day at #EMFCamp means another radioactivity detection project. Testing our cloud chamber installation piece to see if we can get it cold enough in this heat to detect ionising radiation.

Actually really pleased with how the finished packaged up Geiger Counters turned out. Will be selling the very limited quantity I’ve made in the Night Market on Friday at #EMFCamp

@lpoolmakefest@mastodon.social Finally back home after a enjoyable but exhausting weekend. Survived the M6 where a road rage lorry driver tried to run us off the road by flashing lights right behind us, then half overtaking and pulling back into the lane while alongside us. Had to make an emergency lane change to avoid being crushed. Appalling driving from an HGV. Heavy traffic was all going at 50 mph in both lanes so no idea why they were so aggressive with us.

RE: https://3dp.chat/@manyfold/116526501497827553 This looks like a great #Fediverse project. I have registered and plan to upload my own created models here. #3dprinting

Nice little @freecad@social.freecad.org project this morning. I designed an end plug for the greenhouse gutters. Now printing in TPU to test for fit. #CAD #3dprinting

No crimp connector is out of my reach now! I just did my first JST 1.25mm connectors with the new ratchet crimping tool I bought since I’ve misplaced my other crimping tool. Really pleased with this tool purchase. #Maker #electronics #MakersHour #MakerMonday

MS Word informs me I don’t have auto-save turned on. Something that used to just be a background feature in all the versions of Office I’ve used over the years. So I find the option and select it. “You need an Office365 cloud subscription to use that feature.” So no, my files are not going to be auto-saved.

Windows Explorer, you have one job. How can we be on version 11 of the OS the file explorer regularly crashes when you try to do something way out there like opening a folder?

Pleased with today's work. I designed a mounting system for QR codes to be used as gates for the #HackyRacers autonomous robotics racing event in a few weeks time. We need around 50 of these gates, so the design needed to be weather proof, low cost, low effort and possible to make from scratch on site in case any gates have 'accidents' during the racing.

@_thegeoff Initially I thought I was watching some sort of giant ballon being inflated. Then I began to see animalistic forms emerge and then dissolve back into the amorphous mass. I was watching on a small phone screen so my imagination was filling in what it thought it might be seeing and I suspect in person this aspect would be quite different. Ultimately it went from captivating to a bit repetitive and I fast forwarded a bit to confirm it wasn’t going anywhere new.

It's a good job I am doing this for a hobby. If I charged myself my hourly wage for building my #Voron Trident and #ERCFv3 auto filament changer and getting it working (mostly) then it would have cost me around £30,000 to date. #3dprinting

The Fediverse is (I hope) somewhere we can all feel free to be our whole self. As part of MHFA Whole Self day (https://mhfaengland.org/mhfa-centre/campaigns/My-Whole-Self-2026/ ) we are posting 'My Whole Self' selfies at work today. Here is mine. #MyWholeSelf
