Rad to see so many murals and graffiti pieces going up on Mission St today. Especially at 18th and Mission, where an all-women crew is putting up some fresh pieces. Shout out to AP.E for organizing this session. #SFGraffiti

Here's a weird bit of Batman history: Moebius, the legendary French cartoonist, submitted a short Batman comic to DC, who promptly rejected it. Pissed off, Moebius then submitted a twisted parody of his comic to Penthouse Comix, who ran it in 1995. Read that version on my site: https://docpop.org/2016/09/moebius-parodies-batman-1995s-not-batman/

The American Astronaut was incredible! I've never heard of this film before, but I assume it's a cult classic. It really nails the classic sci-fi vibe with a great sense of humor and fantastic music. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_American_Astronaut

Chuck Tingle did a book reading that wasn't really a book reading, and it was fantastic. I wrote about the surprisingly uplifting event here: https://docpop.org/2026/07/chuck-tingle-at-the-internet-archive-in-sf/

Last night I played "Class Struggle", a 1978 #boardgame designed to teach #Marxist theory. The game was designed by Bertell Ollman, a professor of politics at NYU. At the beginning of the game, players roll the "genetic dice" to determine their class: Capitalist, Workers, Farmers, Students, etc Class Struggle obviously draws inspiration from Monopoly, but I think Cosmic Encounter (published in 1977) may have been inspiration for CS's asymmetric rules (depending on which...
