Oh. We managed to travel to Praha right during pride week :D And it seems to be even more commercialized than your average German pride walk.

And this is part of the trail along the Polish–Slovakian border. I can absolutely recommend it.

Also die Sudeten sind ja schön, aber waren Sie schonmal in den Karpaten? (and those are just the 1,000m foothills, with the first 2,000m ridge in the back and the higher mountains not even in frame) Morgen geht's dann voraussichtlich aufn Kamm ^.^

It's pronounced neither gif nor jif, but yiff. It's also not pronounced JPEG but gaypeg. I don't make the rules.

This is the first time I used the fitness room at a venue and... Yeah, that's a good concept. Especially when it's raining cats and dogs and the internalized cat has zoomies.

Dagstuhl colloquium, also known as: got up at 06:00 and now (14 hours later) the smartphone is still showing 83% state of charge. In other news: my room is warm and cozy (as opposed to the pretty damn chilly seminar room) and I am /so/ not going to leave it again today.

"We wanted to learn about the full environmental cost of AI data centres. Manufacturers did not want to help. So we bought a used Nvidia A100 GPU and ground it to pieces" (paraphrased). I like this paper. https://www.nature.com/articles/s43247-026-03537-5 (see the text around Fig. 6)

So. I just spent two and a half days in a colloquium with about three dozen postdocs. Technically, we were competing for who gets assigned the term of best computer science dissertation, except that it absolutely did not feel like a competition – more like a friendly gathering of individuals with similar backgrounds (albeit very different thesis topics). That was a pretty wholesome experience.

Batch-processing a bunch of raw files turns this netbook into a neat little lap warmer. And now I have lots of grainy, coloured cats! (aka: processed a roll of Cinestill 400D that @dm2lct and I shot over the past weeks on her Praktica BX20 and that @senf was kind enough to develop :3 )
