@arclight for whatever reason, I am thinking about the legal elements of conspiracy. If I understand correctly, these are: - Two or more people agreeing to do something illegal, while intending to help make it happen. - One overt act by at least one of them in furtherance of same.

@bitsavers was the fact that this video was AI slop supposed to be a test?

@bitsavers holding yourself to account is a good thing. Kudos!

@aud@fire.asta.lgbt for those of us unfamiliar with the Rust ecosystem and its villains, would you be so kind as to describe, or point to a description of, what you're referring to here?

@neurovagrant What manner of malware would getting this code expose people to?

@neurovagrant I mean, we used to use this general technique to make ssh work back when people were too fixed on port-based access control, so...

@neurovagrant good to know! After I wrote the above, I remembered that I went to college with a guy, Keith McMillan, who wrote a TeX "virus," which attacked Emacs back in 1994, so I'm guessing modern versions, having a MUCH larger attack surface, could be part of the picture.

@neurovagrant I take it they seek out customers whose existence is the basis of your job. Any near-term prospects of lawfare on that basis?

@neurovagrant I was kinda hoping that their outreach to those actors, complete with the fact that they've designed products whose job it is to attract them, might constitute criminal conspiracy. I don't know the details of what they've been up to, but I am confident you would not so much as hint at this if you weren't on very solid evidentiary ground.

@neurovagrant This only looks inconsistent with Christianity if you avert your attention from literally everything about Christianity over it's 1800-ish years of history.

@arclight how sure are you that enough people are in IT to actually do the things you want done? I guess what I'm getting at is that their shit attitude may have structural components of which it might be good to become aware.
