RE: https://mastodon.social/@_elena/116832021297021883 When you try to centralize on a decentralized network it always goes well Eurosky, a grassroots project built by people who care about the network existing as opposed to caring about being able to parade something around, actually has people on the network And https://mu.social is the best microblogging client on the ATmosphere as well Europe can build, and it can build well, the Fediverse has proven that, but a cheap knockoff of an Amer...

RE: https://mastodon.social/@countablenewt/116848331847012632 Thinking about this more: Bluesky going down would be more like *every* Mastodon instance going down A much bigger impact to a lot of people, but ultimately a lot of other parts of the network would still exist

As someone who has spent significant time on both the #Fediverse and the #ATmosphere I'm completely open to talking a bit about the differences in data ownership, feed creation, identity, and other user-relevant topics The Social Web is a super interesting place, and I love that I've been able to be a part of it from multiple angles #ActivityPub #ATProtocol #ATProto

ATProtocol implementing permissioned data is going to enable some cool stuff that I've wanted to build And make some of the stuff I've already built better Some (most) data shouldn't be indexed at will; this allows for that in so many different applications #BuildInPublic #ATProtocol #developer

I'm so fucking tired of the ActivityPub v ATProto discussion It's a waste of time, do something more productive with your limited time than shitting on the things you don't like Actually work to improve the things you do like, I assure you that's a better use of your time

Cool things I can access with my ATProto identity: - Bluesky - Microblogging - Tangled - Git Hosting - Graze - Feed Creation - Surf - Multi-Platform Reader - Offprint - Publishing - Stream.Place - Livestreaming - Germ - E2EE Messaging - Atmo.RSVP - Event Sign-Up - Flashes - Photo Sharing - Skylight - Shortform Video - ATlas - Locale labeler A single set of credentials, a single identity, all managed and owned by me personally (...once I build my PDS) And that identity is just...my domain
