Ooh looks like I got curtailed today - my VPP prevented further exports in the middle of the day. That’s an unexpected problem. #pv

It was a mistake to get solar panels installed on what might be the coldest day of the year, with the power off most of the day so no heating. It’s obviously even worse for the blokes outside.

I analysed my EV roadtrip - Katoomba to Gold Coast, via Sydney Airport, up the M1, then home via Grafton, Armidale, Gloucester. This was the longest roadtrip I’ve done in ~3 years of Model 3 ownership… - 2285 km - $228 spent on energy (almost exactly 10c/km). My key takeaways: 1. Charging was almost entirely easy. Plenty of chargers (while still mostly Superchargers, there are plenty of others now too). The only challenge was Grafton to Armidale, which did require some thought #. 2. The cost sa...

Picking a kiddo up from the movies, and the carpark is full. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it even half full before. Is there some massive blockbuster on or are the cool kids all just going to the movies again now?

I’ve spent a month in a support case with Optus, trying to get number share setup for my Apple Watch. They’ve no clue what to do. One idea was to get a physical SIM in my phone, but that was just a guess. Anyone seen this issue where the mobile plan drops into the “not in use” section immediately? #applewatch #droptus

I started a new project last weekend, and paid up for my developer account (first time in 8 years!) as motivation to actually ship this one. It seems to be working, it's in Tesflight already: https://corduroy.biz/piccolo (Come at me with your feedback) #iosdev

There are two types of people in this world: -those who carry on a conversation on their phone, in a public toilet - those who don’t understand what the fuck is wrong with those people

I moved my phone back to Optus, and it’s going just as you would expect it to. Here I am reporting an error trying to activate my watch plan. The agent apologizes they had to restart their tools because of some unexpected system updates.

People said I should plan the garden before I start putting plants in the ground, I’ve decided my plan is to put plants where I can actually dig a hole. The gaudium (top right) was supposed to go about 2m to the bottom-left of photo. I made some effort to remove the rocks, but they were not coming loose, and I decided I have better things to do with my time than mine sandstone. #bluemountains

I’m guessing @grogsgamut is still working with Guardian editors and lawyers to make his analysis of the RBA’s interest rate decision acceptable to publish and non-defamatory?

Is this #winning? Trains are a mess due to a broken down train earlier. I drove to Springwood, arrived just in time for a modified service, now a super-express, I’ll get to the city 15 minutes earlier than expected!

Petrol prices now vary by 50c/l on any given day due to the marketing “price cycle” (aka “because we feel like it”), so it’s fairly heroic to attribute a 25c increase in a week to any particular cause, no?

The maths: - I pay 8c/kWh for EV charging at home. Origin deal, they control charging time and pause it during peak times (causes no drama to me) - car uses 150Wh/km on average. - not included in the above, a few times a year - school holiday road trips - I have to pay public charging rates. On those trips, it can cost as much as $10/100km or about 6L/100km. (It’s always less than this because I leave home full and return empty) #EV
