RE: https://mastodon.social/@marcoarment/117093901741027747 This app really suits me, and the data model is exactly how I'd want such a thing to work. Insta-buy.

One point I haven’t seen mentioned in the recent AI text watermarking discourse is that watermarking output seems like it would be quite useful for detection and rejection during the model training process to avoid training models on data that can pretty reliably be determined to be AI generated, like random web pages and articles and such. A clever way to minimize that spiral. It sure wouldn’t cover everything that’s generated, but it would let a nontrivial chunk be readily omitted, I imagine.

I've tried out a number of Markdown reader and writer apps over the years and none of them ever quite matched my expectations until I opened Ulysses. It's just lovely, and feels right at home.

Smoke detectors have started giving false alarms again 😩 I threw out all my false-alarming First Alert ones about a year ago and replaced them with Nest Protects which have been great… until now. Spent a few hours crawling around in the cramped attic installing and wiring up closet lights and now my body is broken and must collapse for an indefinite period of time. #old

The foldable iPhone was going to, uh, hinge, on the software support, and this looks really good. I am intrigued.

Pet peeve: software/devices/interfaces that greet you. “Welcome, Collin!” “Good evening, Collin.” Wonderful, thanks — do your thing already! I don’t need to be welcomed, I need you to get to your raison d'être. Sometimes I feel like they put them up because some process is slow, and it’s an attempt to mask that.

NASA just transmitted a software update 12 billion miles to Voyager 2, a feat that’s a marvel of spaceflight engineering and a testament to human achievement. It arrived with the following release notes: “Bug fixes.”

I know newcomers to early iPhone development found the preponderance of square brackets off-putting, but man, I really loved the Objective C syntax and wordy method signatures. It seemed so readable to me — the very antithesis of classic C naming conventions. Also, the fast compile times…
