keep caring, if you can even if people think you're an idiot for doing so (this is about software, but applies to some other stuff too)

sometimes my brain craves this unambiguous kind of path - hugged by wall and fern, zero chance of getting lost. wildflowers, red admirals, the sharp bleat of sheep down the valley. returning lighter, always - this simple working-through - 'solvitur ambulando'! #landscape #nature

thinking about a paradox of capitalism: that it promotes radical individualism at the same time that it demands total conformity. no wonder we feel in crisis - it's a founding principle of the conditions in which we exist

when you stumble across an image and marvel at how it was ever unknown to you - and at how immediately it becomes part of a personal iconography, tying you once again to the collective, in a way that only ancient things seem able to do. so much of our humanity is in these artefacts - a sense that the hands that shaped them are ours. https://isaw.nyu.edu/exhibitions/oldeurope/exhibitionnarrative.html

big fan of people who don't make me feel like existence needs curation - the generosity of turning up as our imperfect selves. no yardsticks, no hierarchy, no coercion to perform. big, big fan.

i don't know if this is a Brit thing, a xennial thing, a human thing, or what, but reminder that your need to experience emotional resonance with those who are meant to be closest to you isn't a sign of neurosis or weakness. maybe consider that other people's inability/unwillingness to meet you there could also be 'the problem', before you try and teach yourself not to feel.

Three years ago today: phone reminding me of what used to be a regular lunch-time walk like a missive from another galaxy. Ever just get so caught up in the routine that you forget what's possible? Not in another world, but in this one? #nature
