Anyone want a slightly non-rectilinear led panel?

This would be a terrible schematic

This is also a technically valid schematic!

I made a breakout board for TI's tinly LM36011 LED driver. It's designed for cell phone camera LEDs, and features an I2C controlled current source to power the LED ('torch mode'), as well as a short duration 'flash mode', that can bump the current up to 1.5A. Paired with a nice power LED it can put out a lot of high quality light from not much space.

Yes, I would like to delete my linked Signal message history on my laptop and only get 45 days of it back when I reconnect this device, because my phone battery is swollen and I needed to switch to a temporary one while getting it fixed.

Also a small warning: If you keep your phone in a case, the battery can swell without it being immediately obvious. I only noticed this when the battery life also became poor

Working on a test setup for LED parameter extraction over temperature. I'm using a peltier element to heat/cool a block of aluminum that the LED is mounted to. The LED is powered using a fixed 10mA supply. The most important bits are probably the change in peak intensity (which correlates to lower efficiency), and the Vf drop. I need to work out a faster way to measure IV curves so that I can measure higher currents without adding too much self-heating.

still a terrible schematic, but it passes DRC after an automatic resync

Maybe we can finally answer that homework question about the infinite grid of resistors

The macbook updated itself, and Firefox has now adopted a Dutch persona that doesn't trust my root certificate anymore.

It's great to have choices in computing- when I want an ad-free desktop experience, I use Linux. When I want copy and paste to work reliably, I use Windows. When I want to use a computer cursed with a T2 security chip, I use macOS.

Tried ordering some parts from Farnell, but one of the items apparently went out of stock between the time I placed the order and the time they packed it. They placed the item on backorder without notifying me, and double charged my credit card for the items that were in stock.

It's still surprising to me that Eurocircuits (apparently) doesn't run their production lines on the weekend.

Great work by all the Mapping Festival workshop participants this last week in Geneva. Now back to whatever it was that I normally do.

Anyone want to see SUNN O))) with me next month in Amsterdam? I have a product that I need to run through vibration compliance testing. (I joke but they are actually playing)

Still quite happy with our SolderPaster, it takes all the frustrating work out of getting solder paste onto small boards. The stencil for this one could have been a bit wider, but everything works as expected.

Yes I would like to sign over Power of Attourney rights to FedEx so that we can comply with the CBAM for the import of €1.80 worth of screws made of iron

X-rayed an isolated RS-485 transciever ( TI ISOW1412) with @artelse . The chip appears to have 5 separate dies + a (ceramic?) transformer mounted onto the metal leadframe. That's a lot going on in such a small package.

Sig-Net is a new stage lighting protocol designed with the intent of being secure enough to be compatible with the CRA: https://sig-net.net/ The spec is supposed to be released in a few weeks, but they have some intro videos available now.

Back at the golang art-net receiver project. Interestingly, on the actual, lower-end hardware, the go-based receiver measures less jitter than on an RPi 4 or Intel laptop. Maybe this is because it's running on a stripped down buildroot environment?

Would "connected to completely the wrong pins" have counted for anything but ethernet? Somehow this still negotiates a 100mbit connection.

Still really happy with the USB-SD-MUX. If you do any development where you are booting from SD cards, it fully automates the reflash/reboot cycle. https://linux-automation.com/en/products/usb-sd-mux-fast.html
