#JukeboxFridayNight #AWiderWorld Released in 1991, with lyrics in English and in Gumatj, a dialect of the Yolngu language spoken in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, where most of the band are from. The song was released to draw attention to the lack of a treaty between indigenous Australians and the Australian government - something previous prime minister Bob Hawke had said would happen by 1990. #JukeboxFridayNight #Dirty Woody Guthrie - So Long, Its Been Good To Know Yuh (Dusty Old Dust) A dust storm hit, an' it hit like thunder; It dusted us over, an' it covered us under; Blocked out the traffic an' blocked out the sun, Straight for home all the people did run, Singin': CHORUS: So long, it's been good to know yuh; So long, it's been good to know yuh; So long, it's been good to know yuh. This dusty old dust is a-gettin' my home, And I got to be drifti...

#JukeboxFridayNight #PersonalPlaylist This was the standout track from a great album in early 2001. Later that year, as military action followed terrorism, the tune, and it's name, took on a deeper meaning. I remember seeing Mogwai in Glasgow in late 2005, shortly before I left the country. That year had seen relationship breakdowns, family illness and death. This tune started, I looked at my brother, he looked at me. We'd been through a lot and now I was moving to the other side of th...

#JukeboxFridayNight #PersonalPlaylist Deep in the pandemic, though spared the worst of it in North Queensland, trying to provide cancer care with reduced staff and a deep fear for the future. This came on ABC one evening and struck a chord with me. Under the Pressure - The War on Drugs https://youtu.be/vkLOg252KRE

#JukeboxFridayNight #PersonalPlaylist Mid-late 20s. Living on my own after the breakup of my first big significant relationship. Used to spend Saturday afternoons in the West End of Glasgow buying CDs. Got a copy of "Chet Baker Sings" and put it on that evening. When I got to this track I realised I may not be as settled in my single life as I thought I was, and found myself in floods of tears. (I had listened to a Chet Baker CD a lot with my ex) I Get Along Without You Very Well -...

#JukeboxFridayNight #History I'm late to this but wanted to put this one on. A poignant song about the working class history of Lanarkshire. We've come a long way since then." https://youtu.be/pL25WIYXj2k
