This Thursday (8th October) it's #NetMCR (https://www.netmcr.uk/) in #Manchester from 7pm! At the moment there's no scheduled talk, so if you feel like giving one yourself, feel free to propose it 😀 Even if there's no talk, it will be nice to meet some like-minded individuals, try some interesting 🍺, and if you're hungry, 🍔 and 🍟! #Networking #MeetUp

Anyone know what happened to #beatport? Some of my bought tracks are missing, and the crappy FAQ, last updated 4 months ago says: "As we continue expanding and restoring the full catalog on Beatport, you may temporarily notice some tracks in your playlists showing as unavailable. We know how important playlist reliability is for DJs, and restoring this content is one of our highest priorities." Did some of their drives die or something??? Oh well, it's a reminder for everyone n...

@edward@hachyderm.io I just saw your #LightningTalk at #emfCamp https://media.ccc.de/v/emf2026-376-1-lightning-talks Well done for managing to fix it! It's so annoying when supposed experts say they can't fix something that turns out to be relatively simple 😡

@dannyh@universeodon.com I hope Derrick Morris gets 0 votes: "Derrick Morris came to Clacton as an asylum seeker from British Guyana three years ago. His claim was accepted and he has lived in the town ever since. In an email to the BBC he claims to be the most educated man in Britain and says he opposes mixed marriages and thinks global warming is a hoax."

@ggrey@social.thelab.uno @homelab@fedigroups.social Nice! My Ubuntu is out of date too for Mastodon, but I've used "asdf" and "rbenv" to upgrade Ruby to Mastodon-supported versions in the past. I am now running Ruby 4.0.5 on Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS with Mastodon 4.6.3, and it's working fine. I do however have multiple versions of Ruby, both for the Mastodon user, and system-wide, as for a while I didn't know what I was doing :( I should really do a cleanup sometime...

#MastoAdmins: has anyone had a problem with all quoted posts saying "Post pending", but when I open the post on the original server, the quoted post displays fine? I'm on v4.6.0, but it's been doing it for several versions, but it used to work. Reloading the page on my server doesn't help either. Sometimes, if I favourite or boost the post on my server, the "post pending" quote then displays immediately. I've checked my Sidekiq queues and all sizes are &quo...

This afternoon a #hedgehog walked right past me while I was on a conf call in the garden! That is not a good sign as they are supposed to be nocturnal. It was quite wobbly and thin too, which is bad news. I left a bowl of water where it disappeared into the undergrowth. I rang a wildlife rescue place, and they said chicken-based cat food in jelly is a good food source. They wouldn't take it as they were full. I bought some cat food at a shop and left some on the top of a curry tub lid n...
