The Loon I came close to today while kayaking may have been this year's young one. Loons are molting right now, and this one left me with a feather floating to the kayak. One more for my collection of Loon feathers 😊. #birds #feather #BWphotography

Our garden Chicory is still flowering, and this Yellow-legged Flower Fly (Syrphus rectus) took full advantage of it. (Learning how to use the flash with the Fuji 😊.) #flies #insects #wildflowers #macro

    Found this little sparrow today, I think it's a Lincoln's? Haven't seen one in years. #birds #wildlife #migration

Getting dark, I had just taken the hummingbird feeder into the house, was closing the curtains, and noticed the "heavy wind" in the plum tree. Right! πŸ™„ Will have to pick all the remaining unripe plums tomorrow. (Photo taken with 12800 ISO, through window, wrong lens,...) #bear #wildlife #gardening

Our resident Chipmunk seems to be well prepared for the coming long winter. Never seen him this chunky. Stuffing what I had just dropped on the compost pile into his cheek pouches. I wonder how many peanuts he has stored in his underground burrow. He knows how to ask for them 😊. #wildlife #garden

I almost stepped on this "twig" in the garden. And then I thought: it's a worm aka Regenwurm. And then I realized: it's a young Northern Redbelly Snake 😍. She does have a red belly. #snake #garden #wildlife

I thought I took a photo of one Northern Watersnake. On the computer I discovered two more, and even more of them were coiled up a few steps down the trail. #snakes #wildlife #nature

This is a summer where the windows have to stay closed overnight because of the bad air quality from smoke, causing allergy aggravation. So it also can't cool down in the house overnight. So I can't hear the birds sing in the morning (do they even sing?). And yes, I know it could be worse ...

It's Ontario Peach Time πŸ‘ πŸ˜‹. The only problem is that all the peaches in the basket are at their best on the same day so I have to eat them all at once. It's tough but I can live with that 😊.

The Milkweed flowers lining a logging road are covered with pollinators: Great Spangled Fritillaries on top, and looking closely two little brown Skipper butterflies and two bees burrowed deep into the flowers, and on the leaf two more tiny insects. #insects #butterflies #flowers

(Ein Bienchen auf Sabinchen... 😊.) A Furrow Bee landed on the back of my hand. They are Sweat bees and look for sweat and salts on the skin. She came in peace and didn't sting. #bees #insects #macro #nature

A Daylily a day keeps, maybe, the doctor away 😊. I tried to name these lily hybrids after their colours as best as I could, so this one is Imperial Red and Chartreuse. #bloomscrolling #glowers #gardening #daylily

Northerly wind, cool night, blue sky today, fresh air! A butterfly photo hike yielded so many butterflies, like this pretty Acadian Hairstreak (Satyricum acadia). #butterflies #insects #nature

Turned around in the garden to see a Black Bear inspecting flower boxes. I would have thought they were all out in the bush picking blueberries. He was in no hurry upon being discovered. Now I know who flattened some of my flowers last night.

The Crows are very happy that now that the Bluebirds left their box, the pool has opened again. Splashing joyfully! They have two youngsters. This is mother with one of them, father sticks close to the other. #birds #crows

Last evening I saw this bold little Bluebird leaning far out of the box, so they were ready. Must be getting crowded in there. This morning I woke up from the low sweet voice of the father. He had coaxed them out before I could watch. So far, so good, despite the earlier drama 😊 #birds
