with #GenAI development killing off the diversity and artistic creativity of #engineering in computing, there's some danger we could lose software "engineering" altogether go.cpf.sh/r6dq5a

I'm not a lawyer, but Section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006 makes dishonestly making "untrue or misleading" statements about facts or "state of mind", "to make a gain", a criminal offense - specifically including when done without human intervention. Sending automated emails claiming that a paid product was designed specifically based on someone's work sure sounds like misleading statements to make sales... 150,000 people turn up to Stephen Yaxley-Lennon's "Unite the Kingdom" protest and the BBC "thoroughly cover" it "across (their) news network throughout the day". 150,000 people turn up to #LondonTransPride and it gets one article on the BBC's local London news that spends most of its words unopposedly repeating the Government's view on the transphobic EHRC guidance. π€

an excellent and incredibly salient post; I fear that the shift in tech in the last two decades is down to more than the uspol mentioned within, but it truly is a deeply concerning shift RE: mastodon.social/users/rasterweb/statuses/116978614460472831

@q@glauca.space yeah I meant the cellular-DECT roaming one - obvs if you're working with one of these in a hospital using DECT for bleeps or w/e you're not gonna need to roam off site etc

Changing your work Google account email really does highlight the sheer number of services that erroneously and insecurely use the email GSI claim rather than the sub GSI claim to authenticate users (because I suddenly can't log in to any of them) (it's very frustrating)

@maisie@tech.lgbt if you turn the synth volume up loud enough you can use it to summon a carrier pigeon into your basement to ship the sound file into the fediverse on a USB stick

look, I'm a simple girl: I want a #browser that I can use on my phone and my computer, that will let me sync tabs across the two, and that isn't Blink-based (because I think browser diversity is important for an open web). up to now, I'm yet to find an alternative to #Firefox that fits those criteria. suggestions welcome! #mozilla
