Are you interested in contributing to open-source, but feel like you need a little support? Check-out Djangonaut Space! Applications are open until September 6th for the upcoming session: https://djangonaut.space/sessions/2026-session-7/ I am going to be ine of the Navigators (techjical mentors) for this session working on Render Engine. This isn't a Django project so all you need is #Python skills - no Django experience necessary.

Do I know anyone with knowledge of masto.host? I'm considering migrating to a single user instance and wonder how much work it's going to require of me.

If you're at #PyOhio my talk, "This is Not the NaN You're Looking For" is at 2:15 in Ballroom B. Come and learn about floats that aren't numbers and have some fun in the process.

I have been having so much fun at #PyOhio so far! I didn't manage to go to any talks yesterday other then the keynotes or my own - I was too busy getting myself ready and doing the final things for it - but I have had so many great conversations. Was great being able to hang out with people I had seen but not interacted too much with at #PyConUS. Looking forward to today when I have much less on my plate. Highlights are @itsthejoker telling us anout lambdas and @chrisjrn 's closi...

You don't need sprints at a Python conference to contribute! https://github.com/python/cpython/issues/154746 I opened an issue I discovered while preparing for my talk. #PyOhio

I ported the FediDevs starter pack I had built for @webology 's Office Hours people to be a Mastodon collection. If you're there in error (or missing but should be there!) let me know and I'll fix it! https://twit.social/collections/116995216133404810

Can I say how awesome it is that I can find an issue, talk to some people and make sure it's not just me, and push up a fix so that other people don't hit the same thing. This is the power of Open Source. This is what makes #Python great.

I spent this past weekend in Cleveland attending #PyOhio. I have thoughts. And feelings. You can read all about them here. https://brassnet.biz/blog/recapping-pyohio-2026.html

While I was at #PyOhio I went to hear @itsthejoker talk about lambdas. Great talk. Y'all should definitely watch it when the videos are up. As a throwaway at the top of the talk, Joe talked about ~ and using it for simplified list access from the right. I thought it was really cool so I wrote it up. I hope you think it's cool too. https://brassnet.biz/til/20260728.html

I decided to turn back time and do #AdventOfCode 2015. I've done through problem 16 so far. OMG these are so fun! They're original. They're a little brain twisty without being out of this world hard. The last couple of years the problems had been somewhat repetitive - same concept with a different twist. Not that they weren't fun but they were solving the same problem. I hope that with fewer problems we'll get back to more original things.

I plan on going to #PyOhio this summer and I want to hear what you have to say! Submit a talk or 3 because I know you have something we all want to hear! If you're not sure what folks reviewing talks proposals (or offers) look for, check out this post I did about what I was looking for when I reviewed the talk submissions for #PyConUS 2026! https://brassnet.biz/blog/picking-talks-for-pycon-us.html https://fosstodon.org/@pyohio/116364092591730045
