Why does it seem that whatever your political views, candidates from both parties are claiming that the other side is just a “few points ahead” in the polls and thus they desperately need you to send money, as if that’s the only thing that will matter. As if a few attack ads will change the mind of the voters. Is this what we’ve become? Do expensive ads change things? Or is communicating your ideas in person?

Perhaps the federal government should be subsidizing the price of gasoline, diesel and home heating fuel to adjust for the impacts caused by the Iran war. Basically a subsidy that’s in addition to eliminating federal motor fuel taxes plus an amount that brings the effective price back to what it was before bombing started. How to pay for it? Take it right out of the Pentagon budget. It’s a cost of a war that we didn’t ask for.

True: putting in sensors or having the engine manufacturer redesign the bleed air system might be an option.

I’m afraid we won’t have another way to be free of them. They’re already planning to control elections. Once that succeeds, it’s over. Not without secession of portions of the country. It might get messy. Am I too pessimistic? Let’s stop fooling ourselves that this will be solved in a fair, orderly manner via separation of powers,...
