  What a surprise… I recall back when I worked for Rape Crisis, going to do a session on working with rape survivors, out at the police college. And I remember that the detective Gordy Hunter standing up in the middle of the session, interrupting and talking us down, and saying “in my opinion nine out of every ten rape complaints is lies and the other one is doubtful” and walking out, with a group of guys following him. Some of those men will still be in the police force.

  When I went out and did a small dinner shop, and I bought biscuits for me and biscuts for the dogs but no biscuits for my wife, I should perhaps get SOME credit becasue 2 out of 3 is 66% and that is a B grade, not (as alleged) a total fail.

  A friend, truly the BEST sort of friend, introduced me to the breakfast delight of feijoas on toast. Hot buttered toast, ripe feijoa mush, a light dusting of cinnamon and a couple;le of fingerpinches of sugar for crunch. Oh yes, life is for the small pleasures.

  May I just share with you all an edifying and uplifting photograph of a barrow of my own compost? I have never made actual compost - I always had a black plastic bin for house scraps, but really nothing like compost ever emerged. In this house I made stacking 1/2 round tiers, read up a ‘how to’guide and am turning the compost - this is my third ‘batch’ in a year, and it is getting better and better! This lot is destined to be dug in for imminent tulips…
