Alright fedi hive mind, I have a challenge for you. I am looking for resources that explain ME/CFS and/or MCAS to a South Asian audience, to support a friend in explaining her needs to her family (immigrants in Canada). This has already stumped several South Asian people with ME, but I am asking just in case one of you has a special video or PDF or Facebook group hookup. Thank you for any leads! Boosts welcome :) #MECFS #MCAS #SouthAsians #AdvicePlease

What are your favourite movies or tv to have on in the background during crafting, that have goth vibes? (Very big tent, all goth is valid, personal interpretations welcome.) #movies #tv #goth #crafting

I wonder whether the current trend of liberation-minded people using "baby" and "child" etc as insults picked up when we collectively stopped using the R slur

#3GoodThings 1. Fit 2 loads of laundry on the backyard clothesline; I am the ruler of linear space 2. Picked a tiny amount of chamomile flowers, less than for a cup of tea, but it's my first time successfully growing any 3. New neighbour texted for advice about making lavender oil, and I got to deliver a little care pack with the tail end of my last batch plus a zine about how to make her own 💜 #herbs #gardening #today

#AdviceWanted on #KidLit .... I have adult field guides, but does anyone know a good non-fiction kids book about poisonous plants? Edit to add some hashtags: #plants #PoisonPath #PlantMedicine #poison #witches #botany #kids

Today's small pleasure is that I received the pickle pebbles and pickle pipes I ordered. Bonus: I had forgotten about them. Double bonus: I was just psyching myself up to maintain my annoying DIY fermentation setup, involving washing scum off tiny mason jars of water and swapping in clean cloth napkins to cover the jars. Suck it, annoying chores!

An OT (of course) recently introduced me to phase change cooling clothing and the tech is so interesting! Unlike water ice packs that take forever to freeze and then are so cold that you can only safely touch them for 10 minutes at a time, some genius made gel packs that freeze at 15C. So you can freeze them in the fridge and then wear them continuously for hours without frostbite. They are pricey but there aren't many other options for people who need to be outside in the heat.

Oooh, kickstarter for a new PNW wild dye book by a very cool dyer I have followed for several years. She does some beautiful and rare dye techniques-- purples and blues from lichens and fungus, dyes that change colour in sunlight, etc. (Book has a big ole ethics section, as you should expect with foraging and especially lichens.) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ninetenpub/wild-dyes-of-the-pacific-northwest #PNWNativePlants #dyeing #BotanicalDyes #TextileArts #foraging #LichenSubscribe

At a chronic pain seminar tonight, the OT said, "one thing we often hear is, 'oh i wish you could just put me in a coma until my current neurons would die and be replaced with new ones that aren't so highly reactive', but unfortunately that isn't how the nervous system works." #ChronicIllness #ChronicPain

An #introduction: Hi I’m Sarah and I notice myself inhabiting the Software Person part of my identity more in this place, because so many tech people are here. I’ve been working in public interest software since the late 1900s. Currently SO LUCKY to be employed building Indigenous language revitalization tools that are open source and built on data sovereignty. I like to use social media wrong-- dredge up conversations from years ago, link to other apps, post about many different topics.

gosh i love occupational therapists. i'm at a webinar about pacing through summertime, and this OT just shared a "success story" from a client who got a banner for a party they hosted. instead of saying "happy birthday" the banner said "please leave by 9pm" #ChronicIllness #LongCovid #MECFS

During this whole pandemic I have been pondering how to have satisfying social events that are not centered around food and drinks, which was my usual in the before times. New experiment today was having a friend do a masked dj set in the kitchen during a craft party. 10/10 recommend craft rave. #CovidIsNotOver #CovidIsAirborne #CraftRave
