  #3goodthings: a- i managed to go to the gym today to get more swole (not true, actually i get less swole, but swole is a concept) b- we have 2 fieldtrips coming up this week — that’s crazy! they’re both to beautiful outdoor locations c- i discovered that the dept. of archaeology at Cambridge made a short film some years back ENTIRELY IN OLD BABYLONIAN (the first and only of its kind) available on youtube and that sounds like a must see for a world history class

  today was pretty good, peeps in world history we learned about same-sex unions in ancient mesopotamia, among other items of interest we started watching rebel without a cause in english class (it’s all about those camera angles! plus, i think the acting really holds up, even if the style does not necessarily) and when i got home i was able to check out a much-awaited library book! such a good anticipatory feeling #3goodthings

  should anyone be curious, the question of the day that i wound up going with today was “how much do you think about the future? or do you prefer to stay in the present?” it turned out that people were all over the place in their responses and it was super interesting. at this point in the year everyone is used to talking about these kinds of things (we’re a pretty tight classroom community by now) and so they’re pretty open and honest

  i just want to say, as an educator this is such a hard time i am torn every day between helping my students square up to all that is going on in their world while also recognizing that they are just kids, and some of them are only barely hanging on emotionally these days. they are scared and overwhelmed much of the time thinking about reading the geneva conventions in government class today but fuck! we are all under the shadow of existential threat
