dear android developers im required to wear special headphones at work that literally cannot go above a certain volume when you automatically turn down my volume to a whisper because "your volume has been set dangerously high for a while, so we're automatically turning your volume down to prevent hearing loss", youre actually stranding me with music that i cant hear over the nearby machinery for a few hours until im allowed to access my phone again please dont do that. or if...

ever wanted an instance that could stay offline for an indefinite period of time and not lose federated posts? well, i have the perfect solution! fedi now runs on crypto to preserve data, allowing you to catch up when your server is next online! its simple: when you make a post, an LLM automatically summarizes your post, and then submits it to the fedi blockchain! when your friend's server next comes online, it can catch up on the block chain, and then have an LLM reverse-summarize (hallu...

90% of transphobia is silent - the kind that never makes headlines, never gets called out, never gets addressed it's when the internet technician that gave you offputting vibes silently puts mud in the ISP's box instead of cleaning it out it's when your medications get rejected by your insurance because someone at the medical office discovered your childhood account, and used the name from that account instead of your current name it's when you make corrections to information...

bluesky, threads etc arent going to choke out fedi. stop worrying about that! what does pose a threat to the fediverse, however, are toxic instance admins pushing out and burning out instance admins who have genuine good will the infighting inside of fedi is a much greater risk than the monoliths of distant alternative social media sites

me: orders shoes in size 11, pays for fast shipping receives: shoes in size 6. now has to wait a chunk of time for the return to process. no refund on the fast shipping

• View post

i figured out what happened. on the website, i selected size 11 in the first menu, selected the shoes i wanted. add to cart it turns out that if you dont select a size a second time, after choosing the shoes, and right before adding to cart, it defaults to the smallest shoe they have (which is size 6). that feels like really bad website design. ngl, the blender anthropic funding feels like a bit of a betrayal. yeah, they claim that anthropic wont tell them what to implement. but... money tends to color the direction a project moves in, no matter how hard you try for that not to be the case. even if AI features dont find their way into blender, their announcement still colors how people see blender now. instead of my blender projects being "pretty artwork", theyll be seen as "pretty artwork that was created with a softwa...
