Don't forget! `air_conditioning=yes/no` is the tag you can map now! When you walk into a shop/cafe/restaurant do you immediately notice the cold air? You should be happy for 2 reasons! You can cool down, and now you have something to map into OSM! https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:air_conditioning #OpenStreetMap #OSM #aircon #climatecrises

I think I just added the first `amenity=place_of_worship,religion=esotericism` to OSM

#Postpass is an #SQL server. It (#PostgreSQL) can do data processing, and convert your data, meaning your map styles are simple and easy to understand. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Postpass/Examples#Colouring_bus_routes_by_starting_number

There isn't a #MapComplete thing for “Does this place have air conditioning?”, right? Anyone good with MC want to whisk that up for me? Summer in Europe, so this would be nice to have! #OpenStreetMap #AC #airconditioning

In my recent holiday in Montenegro, I double checked almost 500 PoIs while there! 💪🏻 (i.e. how many `check_date` tags I edited). (I did loads of other edits too)

Today's #Postpass quickie: The same address points (same number & street) but too close together. Possible mapping mistakes? https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/2pEJ #openStreetMap

Open Source projects often have a tag for their bug reports/issues called “good first issue”. Something new people can work on, to get used to this software project. Looks like like AI/LLM bots are scanning for that, and sending drive-by patches “fixing” those issue. This drains maintainer's time. Something that used to be good to help new software developers, is draining software maintainer's energy. Thanks GenAI! https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/issues/...

Is there any way (in OSM) to map the _type_ of pedestrian crossing symbol? Some places have different styles. e.g. Mainz has this Mainzelmännchen, Berlin, famously has different one for East & West Berlin. How does one store that in OSM? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mainzelm%C3%A4nnchen-Ampel.png #OpenStreetMap #OSM

RE: https://en.osm.town/@amapanda/116520890379560322 I'm not as anti-AI/LLM as some people. But I can't help but feel sad at how much of the “open internet” is being turned off, due to the side effect of AI/LLM (or their scrapers)....

@fabio the "no roaming fees" is great, but remember that for years before that, the EU mandated maximum roaming rates, which slowly went down (and (IIRC) the 60€/month max roaming fee). It's been 20 years since people experienced real unregulated roaming in the EU

One of the great things about @weeklyOSM (the OSM newsletter) is how trans friendly they are! I transitioned while on the OSMF Board. They asked how they should cover that, and let me write the entry¹ “One of the OSMF Board members has changed her name to Amanda McCann.” I didn't mention my dead name², or state that I was changing genders³. 😄 There were no bros demanding some historical legacy reasons “well actually”'ing https://weeklyosm.eu/archives/14691#:~:text=One%20of%20...

oh boy. with #postpass & #OverpassUltra I can generate heatmaps directly from OSM data. Here's a heatmap of `place` tag's with this query ``` --- type: postpass style: layers: - type: heatmap heatmap-radius: 20 heatmap-weight: ["get", "count"] heatmap-intensity: 0.0001 --- select count(*), geom from ( select ST_SnapToGrid(geom, 0.1) as geom from postpass_point where tags?'place' AND geom &a...

We know how exciting it is that we can make heatmaps with #OverpassUltra (cause it uses #MapLibre). And now I realised you can make A GLOBE! put this at the start of your style and GO GLOBULAR! style: projection: type: "globe" Thanks @trailstash! #OpenStreetMap #OSM #OverpassUltra #Ultra

Do you know about “Universal Greeting Time”? > UGT is convention that it is always morning when person comes into a channel, and it is always late night when person leaves. Local time of any member of channel is irrelevant 😆 🔗 http://www.theilya.com/mips/ugt.html

If you want to find the longest `opening_hours` tag in #OpenStreetMap, you can use this #Postpass SQL query! SELECT tags, geom FROM postpass_pointlinepolygon ORDER BY length(tags->>'opening_hours') desc nulls last limit 1 That's it. #SQL is really powerful. 🙂 https://overpass-turbo.eu/?Q=%7B%7Bdata%3Asql%2Cserver%3Dhttps%3A%2F%2Fpostpass.geofabrik.de%2Fapi%2F0.2%2F%7D%7D%0A%0ASELECT%20tags%2C%20geom%0AFROM%20postpass_pointlinepolygon%0AORD...
