So, I've been asked to DM small introductory TTRPG campaigns of like 2.5 hours. It's for the Berlin improv community, and a D&D campaign is definitely desired, but other systems are not frowned upon. I've never done this short format before, but I have some ideas. I want to alternate between rules-heavy, and rules-light systems, probably using "kids on bikes" as the rules light system at first.Considering everybody there will have some improv comedy background, I will f...

Hey Berlin bubble, where would I be able to physically buy ISO 12312-2 glasses (the ones you can watch the eclipse with). I'd rather not order online and hope that things get delivered on time. #Berlin #Eclipse

It's fitting that CDU is black, and the AfD is blue, because that's what the country will be if those two ever get a ruling coalition.

Not a day goes by without hearing a novel way how AI is not making good things either worse or go away. Today it's good YouTube creators being fucked by broken AI "detection". Even if I would take the AI boosters arguments in good faith (which I don't), I would still question their sanity as they think that it's worth all the damage it's doing everywhere. Even if it actually worked well, I wouldn't think it's worth the price.

@burak@gursoy.social @reyjrar@hachyderm.io json has very basic types, "string", 1234.56, true, [], and {}. yaml has the same types, but makes it too easy to let one be parsed as another.

Fedi, do you think YAML would be improved if it forced you to quote string values, instead of allowing strings to be unquoted values. In favour of quoted strings: It would make it explicit when something is a string, and you wouldn't accidentally input another type, expecting to be a string. Against quoted strings: Quoting is clumsy when inputting code/regexes as values. :boost_requested: #YAML

When I first saw "the Matrix", it referred to 1999 as the pinnacle of human civilisation. Little did I know then just how accurate that was.

Wanting to take down capitalism, and improving the current conditions we live in under capitalism are not mutually exclusive. One is a long term goal, the other is short term damage reduction. You could make a case that capitalism has to get as bad as it possibly can get so that people are more likely to overthrow the system, and while I understand the logic in that, it will also hurt a lot of people, and the vast majority of the people hurt will be the weak and unprivileged. And who are you to...

I enjoy using e-bikes, but the more I do, the more I find that I miss the oomph I can get on a regular bike. Like, it's not very satisfactory when a good beat drops, you start peddling faster and with more strength, and the e-bike does not go faster than its limiter, nor do you get more resistance on your legs...

Some common factors of talented engineers that I see getting slop-pilled are: Tend to be older or have gone into a leadership position. Most likely don't do much actual coding themselves anymore.Used to delegation of stuff they don't want to do.Would rather do anything else than actual engineering. Sure, you could say that these are all the same factor, and I wouldn't per-se disagree, but it's still a pattern. :stopslop: #slop #LLM #AAI

I didn't feel great yesterday, so I chose not to go to to CSD here in Berlin. Something I regretted for the entire day, as I love the parade, and the people it attracts. The only time I didn't regret it was after some arsehole decided to drive his van into the CSD crowd. It both angers and saddens me that this happened, and while the current suspect is said to have "islamist" connections, let's not forget that the current government has not been great at encouraging a quee...

It's funny how, when discussing codeberg's vibe ban, people kept on complaining about that it was not possible to detect slop code, but now that the ban is in place, sloperators are "conscientiously boycotting" codeberg, instantly proving that the slop detection was never really needed, and that such a ban is very useful. To add yet another thing that has been bothering me of the AI hype is that I'm normally not tech conservative at all. I've never had a problem with big changes if they were done in good faith and had an eye on improvement. Like, I didn't have really big issues with systemd, or wayland for that matter, even welcoming them as I saw what they were improving. And now AI comes in and puts me in a position where people can claim that I'm afraid of progress... Fuck that, I'm not a...
