chatgpt can't generate #NixOS configuration. When it should put stuff into overrides it just throws them into systemPackages instead. But when you then follow up and mention override it does it perfectly...

Hey @ordnung@chaos.social we need to increase the character limit. Can't even hit reply-all and write "take me off of this list" as one typically does 🙃 https://cultofshiv.wtf/@SleepyCatten/117285847168930207

@kajer@infosec.exchange Oh so that's how they did it. (Something like this must be working on Mastodon too btw, was quite surprised when it happened a few days ago)

Note to self: Just don't touch #ipsec. It's shit all way round and always breaks. Just use something else. Why? Every time I want an encrypted tunnel between two public IPs I think like "oh yea, using IPSec here would be easy and straight forward". And then it never fucking works reliably. And if it does work it stops to work the next time you try to apply the exact same config. And it fails with shit like this... What have I done wrong?!? Why work sometimes?? #networking...

lol encrypted zip files leak metadata. Including the CRC32 checksum, size, and file/folder name. So even without knowing the password I now know that I've exactly the same files elsewhere. #infosec #zip files

Note to self: Run "sync" before "systemctl reboot"... Something just got killed and I have no idea what. Just hope it wasn't anything LVM cache and/or BTRFS related even though nothing else that accessed the volume was (supposed to be) running anymore. #LVM #Btrfs #systemd #linux

could it be that when start out with an #dmraid with 4 equal drives in #RAID 5 and then add 4 more similar drives at the same time) later that it'll basically RAID0 each of the drives in the RAID5? (I didn't tell it anything other than lvextend -l 100%FREE, I think. It has been a while. Just wondered why the total capacity is missing two instead of one drive...) Guess it's time to learn how to tell which topology #LVM choose internally from the lvs/pvs/vgs/... tools out...

Why does the critical-path of my #NixOS startup say that the graphical.target depends on (indirectly) bluetooth device coming up which is apparently being waited for by sound.target which for whatever reason is needed by DNS (systemd-resolved.service). And what is this shit why does apparently my entire system depend on bluetooth.service? What did I misconfigure that #NixOS generated such a shitty dependency graph?!? #Nix #systemd #wtf

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu > Product damaged > Unsafe to sell Do you also prevent the companies from just damanging the products in order to dispose of them? Like what we here in Germany often see with books (because of "Buchpreisbindung") is them getting a black edding across the edge of the pages (aka when it is closed and you look at the book from the side, top, or bottom) or using a paper cutter to strike across the cover once...

@felis Does this bug still exist? It used to happen as a race condition when you switched the selected item in the hot bar right at the moment between you breaking a block with a tool and the damage value being decremented by one. Spent quite a while looking for errors in my code and trying to reproduce when I hit it while playing around with learning a bit of java for Minecraft modding years ago...

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu The main issue I see with the Digital Service Act is that it is mainly a cashgrep for lawyers. I already see customers trying to rule lawyer it to the point where they don't need to change anything (It's actually surprising how much energy they put into this. If they'd only invest a fraction of that energy in actually addressing the issues everyone would be better off, them included...)

a console tool like filelight but for memory allocations would be great right now. I really would like to know what process is holding onto these 111GB that are still in memory when htop shows not a single process with more than 0 anymore. And even if I go off of what it shows as reserved the most is ovs with 17GB... #NixOS

Can someone explain why everyone is suddenly moving to #Codeberg and not #GitLab? I know I'm kinda late to ask this, but why is Codeberg better than GitLab these days? What happened that it become the preferred choice for people moving off of #GitHub? #GitForge #Git

@brian_greenberg@infosec.exchange And once again the main issue is #bigTech not having an easily reachable human support team. Any even mildly qualified human would have been able to spot such an abuse and assist. It's also not like Google wouldn't do ID verification for other age related things. Like wanting to watch youtube videos flagged as for adults only...
