It's really funny* how these frontier models are apparently learning *every possible way to cheat and get access* while never ever optimizing to use git clone instead of scraping HTML over and over and over. *a fucking embarrassment to my profession, a red hot coal underfoot

This mnemonic for the reading of 型 (Model) took a weird turn. "What model catapult (かた) is this? Is it the trebuchet or the mangonel type? Only one model can aim at your ex's window with the right trajectory. Catapult model matters!"

Evidentemente no aprendieron. La letra no entró, y ya se creyeron que no pasa nada.

Yesterday I had a nice talk with my 10 year old about why I play games like Bloodborne. The sense of accomplishment after winning a hard battle, the comfort in replaying a well-known game the same way she likes rewatching some shows, the familiarity with its bits.

At this point I’d welcome eldritch-made horrors, if only for some variety. Or just to keep it local, dolphin-made horrors. Octopus-made horrors. Something.

Agradecido a don PlantSlant. Fue fácil y entretenido hacer estas donas con mi hija.

Let’s focus on this paragraph. “What I most appreciate about Truck-kun is that it separates me from the icky isekai part. I never have to bother with Carissa in the fantasy world because my main job is in the real world, hitting as many objects and pedestrians as possible while she takes care of the rest.” The icky part is not, somehow, hitting pedestrians with a truck. Though yes, some isekai…

I love how Eric Barone worked for ages on Stardew Valley, modified each character endless times, edited and improved and perfected the game in an almost Tolkienian fashion, but also left this weird-ass bed diagonally in the middle of the room because fuck it, that's why.

One way to be a better man: just... respond to things with niceties. My brother sent me a picture yesterday over whatsapp, of him and his son watching the Argentina/Egypt match. My nephew was on a couch waving a wand, and my brother said "He's got the magic wand, for help." And I said nothing. Later on it hit me, and I went back and said "I didn't tell you before, but [nephew] is very cute". It cost me absolutely nothing. It felt good in fact. And it made him feel...

Just gonna mention that if you're choosing to boycott the world cup now because of Trump's meddling and the Balogun affair, - it's not really a bad thing you're doing - but be careful about how you announce it, because it's the Community meme of "wait, you can excuse racism?"

"AI lets me be a coder or a musician when I don't know how to code or to compose" No, it lets you be a manager. You say stuff and somebody else does it, and you don't know or care exactly how. That's management.

RE: https://neuromatch.social/@jonny/116324676116121930 Boosted already but this is just to say that "coders" at the same time complaining that "delete everything" in a comment can hobble an agent and is tantamount to criminal, and insisting that these things are Artificial Super Intelligence is exactly what Orwell was describing with Doublethinking: holding two absolutely opposite concepts in the mind at the same time and juggling one and the other ad hoc without ever consi...

I sometimes wonder about my cats. For example, right now they're sleeping together, but not right next to each other, on my daughter's high bed. I guess they feel safe and high, but it's also a very cold room in this apartment, certainly colder than the living room where I am now. They have their fur, sure.
