Hello. I am a totally blind tech nerd, in both my personal and professional lives.
I enjoy tinkering with computer software and hardware, coding, databases, client/server administration, diagnostics and technical support, and all the rest of that jazz.
I administrate servers around the globe for database and web application hosting, VoIP telephony and amateur radio communications. I also do backend database administration and web application programming.
Other interests include music, documentaries, biology, criminology, SciFi, being silly, and pondering the meaning of life.

I must say folks, for screen reader users specifically, and often times many other groups as well, the command line is, and always was, the most rock-solid accessibility tool. If you've got a system of knowing and quickly retrieving commands and their sequences, be that from your head, a lookup database, the internet, provided its still there, you can do anything the software allows. Full stop. There is nothing preventing you from using any feature that the environment is programmed to allow...

Wow! Looks like Glitch-soc broke something serious with the Mastodon API. Anyone else running latest getting "this page is not correct" responses to streaming API calls, rendoring streaming broken and useless?

@announcements Thanks for the heads up. Good luck with the monster migration. I've been following it for months now, and the trials and tribulations, the sweat and tears, and the headaches along the way have sounded trying to be sure. But the time has come, and I do hope the endgame is a win!

@Extelec I whole-heartedly agree, but you know what? I didn't and don't have to reboot to agree, because Windows leveled me up even more! It completely hosed my primary Winblows machine.

In a way, I wish there was a way to disable my own ability to view followers and counts on Mastodon. When I say good/positive things, I lose followers. When I say bad/negative things, I lose followers. Clearly, it would be a lot better for my mental health if I simply didn't have access to this data.

Wahoo! Ten years retroactive, as well as this year's Canada disability Savings Bond was just deposited into my Registered Disability Savings Plan account. Time to make a max catchup contribution to triple those funds with the Canada Disability Savings Grant, and then invest into a slumping market, LOL. But gotta start somewhere, sometime.

I've been enjoying spending time with my special person virtually. The distance makes it difficult at times, but we're planning a visit in May. As for Easter, I was a bit uncertain as to her favourite things, and Amazon didn't have the one thing I was sure of, but I found something else that she enjoys, and she will be getting it, if a couple days late. But its the effort and thought that count. As for me, I'm going to see both sides of the family for dinners, bot...

My word, I truly do miss my main desk rig. I really aught to do something about getting it up and running. Basically, no display when entering BIOS/UEFI or one-time boot menu. Makes OS repair just a tad impossible. It needs a test bench with video diagnostics.

I do thank the people in my life who have been ever so supportive and instrumental in my attempts to diagnose, and otherwise support me emotionally through this whole ordeal.

Things have once again been an insanely intense, but insanely enjoyable and loving passtime over the throughout the last while. I am finding it difficult to break away from it and get some important matters taken care of.

Since the peripheral known as a mouse exists, and it sits next to a keyboard, the keyboard should be called the catboard, so it can eat the mouse, and all it's UI implications.

Seriously, if Mastodon would get their shit together, and finally, once and for all, fixed the "I don't know about you, so you don't exist" problem, when it comes to instances talking to each other regarding accounts, it would probably have more users.
