I don't like posting news, but if you aren't already aware of UPFs' health impact and how it is being manipulated from being exposed - this very recent report details how the big corporations follow the tobacco playbook to keep cold cuts, peanut butter, white bread, frozen meals, biscuits, crisps, and soft drinks on shelf. (yes they are mostly, if not all, ultra processed food ie recycled industrial waste) https://www.lighthousereports.com/investigation/big-food-vs-the-people/ #fo...

And minors should stay away from social. Like a crying baby in an 80s pub breathing second-hand smoke constantly being offered alcohol and deep-fried snacks. None benefited apart from the alcohol industry.

It sounds suspiciously like people want a photographer to painstakingly wait for the perfect moment for a mere photograph. The craft of capturing a moment has been elevated by some to an art form; but not everyone treat it as a piece of art. Most people have more important to get on with in their lives. Yeah crime and punishment stands the test of time and all that but stop gatekeeping flick novels from publishing.

My vague attempt to #3goodthings 1. I'm not dead 2. I currently have no plan to commit suicide 3. I'm sure out there someone would rather I'm dead, but I'm still alive

The older I am the more I appreciate Nigella Lawson. I slowly and unwillingly came to acceptance that I won't be making every single dish with pedantry. I still make a mirepoix, I still do equilibrium brining... but sometimes I use apples or whatever veg I have instead of sticking with the holy trinity; and the 72 hours schedule is slowly drifting towards a week. Pragmatism is taking over. #food

Not a line I expected from a cookbook... "All ingredients need salt. The noodle or tender spring pea would be narcissistic to imagine it already contained within its cell walls all the perfection it would ever need. We seem, too, to fear that we are failures at being tender and springy if we need to be seasoned. It’s not so: it doesn’t reflect badly on pea or person that either needs help to be most itself." ... but wish I've read it earlier. #food #cooking #book

Dear website designers, Please stop disabling text selection (highlight) on your websites. First, it isn't exactly rocket science to bypass; second, there are people who highlight the paragraphs they are reading. More of this and I will copy and paste them somewhere else out of spite. #UX

I rang into a weird bug that my note disappeared in Joplin. The entire note. Luckily it wasn't important and only about 500 words of gibberish. I have a guess on the possible logic behind it, but seriously I am too tired to care.

I don't like poor journalism and this time MIT really gets on my nerves. Grace Huckins wrote and I quote: "... denied an AI agent’s request to contribute to matplotlib..." ".... discover the agent had retaliated with a blog post" It phrased in a way to suggest the AI, as a tool, itself retaliate; but it is a human-led harassment utilising AI/LLM. A human opened the github account Rathbun, and prompted the AI (openclaw?) to retaliate with a blog post...

There was a behavioural study about how human sometimes do the opposite of what their ancestors do just for the sake of it. But I couldn't remember the details. Anyone? #behaviouralstudies
