To say that I am not a fan of AI in education is both a gross understatement and a massive oversimplification, but perhaps still useful shorthand as I let you know that I will be keynoting this AI + OER Institute in August. It is free, virtual, and open to all: https://cptc.libguides.com/TLC/AIOER2026

I just logged into an account I have, and the URL had "authuser" at the end, and for a moment I misread, and assumed I had named myself "Althusser" in the application. You can take the girl out of literary theory, but apparently you can't take the literary theory out of the girl.

In a couple of weeks, I'm headed to #Ireland for the first time. Renting a car and visiting: Cork, Dingle, Doolin, Kinvara, Galway, Rock of Cashel, and Clonmel in County Tipperary. Anything you want to suggest along that route, have at it!

Hey guess what?! Today I passed my national registry exam and I’m officially an EMT! Probably one of the few former literature profs to join an ambulance crew. You’re never too old to try new, batshit loopy things, people!

There are two types of styles in airport fashion and as much as I try to be on point, I always end up looking like Adam Sandler late to catch the bus.

I am stumbling my way from the US to Europe through a variety of airports and the amount of facial recognition scanning is sucking away my will to exist. We could have built any world we wanted. Gahhhhh

Ok so I had a middle seat and my guy had a window and we’re in Row 19 and many rows are fully empty and a guy sits next to me on the aisle. And does not relocate when it’s clear the plane is mostly empty! Dear reader, here are our options:

I’m traveling from NH to MN today to meet some of the team at my new job. I’ve already done the first carpool leg and I’m onto the bus now! Airplane to come! Expected 10 more hours of joyful journeying. Buckle up and join me for a thread of observation, consternation, and transportation! 🚗 🚍 ✈️

I’m at my first conference in my new Executive Director role trying to fake that I am a grown-up and professional being, when the presenter pops this slide up and I am exposed for the wise deep thinker that I am. #oer

"Our students here in West Virginia would rather buy feed for their animals than textbooks, and you can't really blame them there." Taylor Miltenberger, Blue Ridge Community & Technical College Taylor's work on OER and digital connectivity in WV is fantastic. Really impressed and excited for it to be published.

Just finished reading The Correspondent on the bus. A bus is far from the worst place for crying, luckily. What a book.
