We have this very narrowcasted beam of disinfo here in Canada that circles around rewriting colonialist history so you don't have to feel bad about it. Seen a lot parroted by family who'd been softened up by several years of american brainrot and it's been wild to watch happen. Their slogans and catch phrases are so childish and petty that it'd be funny if it weren't for, yaknow, dead kids https://thetyee....

Okay read it for myself and this is pretty ingenious. Goes from explaining the problem of outsized perception created from loud but small groups on social media platforms then designs an actual ass solution to surface real sentiment instead of clickbait engagement metrics https://thenoisyroom.com/

Soooo what's the timline in Alberta's big dumb data breach? - seperatists go out recruiting people to 'get signatures' using their super secret methods - we learn that someone with access to elections data leaked/sold it to centurion project - people are made aware that their data may be used to inflate petitions without their consent - suddently the petition has enough signatures for a referandum If it wasn't exactly what the UCP wanted happening, it&am...

Co-Op is transitioning from their in-house online shopping system to Instacart. We know that in the US Instacart enables surveillance pricing, so members are going to have to be loud and clear that if they touch that feature, we fucking riot. https://www.techspot.com/news/110569-instacart-algorithm-quietly-charging-people-different-prices-same.html

Looking between three Canadian instances with around 180 users each and thinking, I don't wanna be the loudest guy in those particular rooms. Don't want to be beholden to the whims of unapologetic AI boosters or have my presence read as supporting whatever jerkass behaviour surfaces from individuals running their servers. I want stable, well funded, responsibly moderated. Canadian is nice but non-US really is the big thing. Cripes, I might end up on @Vivaldi 's
