#nowwatching The End of Oak Street (2026) Gorier than I was expecting, especially after many people kept making the 80s style and Amblin Entertainment connections. Saving any further thoughts for a potential review...

A movie that was completed on time, under budget, and tested extremely well was shelved by Warner Bros executives who had never seen a frame of the finished film. The WB CEO, David Zaslav, also shelved a fully completed Scooby Doo animated film and the Batgirl movie that was nearing completion. Luckily, the excellent Coyote vs Acme managed to find a release. This is a great read. “Keep chasing that bird!” The oral history of Coyote vs. Acme https://www.theringer.com/2026/08/27/movies/coyot...

I don't normally do steelbooks. Most of my steelbooks were 2nd hand or extremely cheap. Anyway, I got an email from Rarewaves to pre-order this lovely Godzilla Minus Zero set. As far as I know, the film has only been released as a single disc 4K in the UK. This version contains the film on 4K and HD, a third bluray has Godzilla Minus Zero Minus Colour (B&W version) and a fourth disc has bonus features. Also, the steelbook slipcover glows in the dark! All for £35. Sigh. Ordered.

Ooops. An unreleased Nicholas Cage film, called Fortitude, was stolen from Netflix. The film was delivered to the Netflix acquisitions office by a producer on a DCP. These are used in cinemas, basically an encrypted hard-drive containing the film. But the film wasn't encrypted, and that hard drive, amongst several others, have been stolen. A bit niche but anyone else use Standard Notes with Firefox/Waterfox/other fork? Standard Notes works fine on my phone but in Waterfox, when I try and login, I get, "NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource." But I can log in with MS Edge with no problems. I found one person with the same problem on Reddit from a week ago but with no solution. I'm taking the easy route out, what's a good note-taking app alternative with cloud backup?

Too many films to list, so many great roles. You know you'll be seeing clips of Jurassic Park on the news all day. (A role that I only recently learnt Harrison Ford turned down.) Seeing as Sam was recently declared cancer free, this is a genuine surprise. R.I.P. Sam. Actor Sam Neill Has Died At 78 https://www.darkhorizons.com/actor-sam-neill-has-died-at-78/

Back in the days of early DVDs, I used to laugh at what the studios claimed were special features. My favourite was "Interactive Menus" Well, of course!? What is a non-interactive menu? A screen of buttons where you can't actually select anything? I've picked up some charity shop Blu-ray's and it's interesting to see that some people tried to keep that trend going. A seamless menu, thank god for that! Hang on, I've just noticed that ap...

A film that's only being made because Trump suggested it. Being directed by a man who has been accused by several women of sexual assault. (Which he denies.) It's a shame to see people fall for Reform's lies and their so called policies based on knee jerk reactions to the news. They run my county council, unfortunately, not very well. It's strapped for cash with no spare money and they pull stuff like this. #ukpol #ukpolitics Reform council spends £600k on eight free parking spaces for senior councillors https://www.lbc.co.uk/article/reform-council-600k-free-parking-senior-councillors-5HjdRfw_2/

In honour of Star Wars day, here's one of the first Star Wars fan films I ever saw, and it's a great one. This is Troops, a short ten-minute film in the style of the old US show Cops. Cops is an early reality show where a TV crew followed the police around while on their job. It first aired in 1989 and is still running today. A five part, five hour documentary about the history of the classic TV show, Knight Rider. This looks really interesting, there's even raw footage of KITTs stunt jumps. It looks like the local garages and body shops were kept in work! It's available on Blu-ray later this year, the cheapest edition is $99. Hopefully, someone will televise it like the excellent RoboDoc. KNIGHT RIDER: DECLASSIFIED | Exclusive Trailer (2026) 4K https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_HZ1w7Q-Kw

As you, my online friends will know, I'm quite a self-deprecating character. I haven't written a film review in five months, so this one feels a bit wonky/rough/not as good as normal. @moshidon I get excited with every update! Will the toot text be going the full width of the device like the older version? I used to like the indent when I used Tusky. But for reasons, I switched to Moshidon and grew accustomed to the use of all the real estate.

A huge fucking grin on my face while watching this trailer. This looks wonderful. If you didn't know already, and if you follow me you're sick of hearing it (😁), Warner Bros decided to shelve this film and claim the money back as a tax write off. Thankfully, Ketchup Entertainment has managed to buy it and release it. Coyote vs. Acme Trailer #1 (2026) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b76pK6uYQfA

I wondered if the new film, Michael, would sanitizer his story. Apparently, the film did feature the scandal which was the basis for the third act. Then the Jackson estate realised legally they couldn't because one of the singer’s accusers, Jordan Chandler, barred the depiction or mention of him in any movie. As this was the estates error, they paid ($10m - $15m) for three weeks of reshoots and the film now ends just after the release of the Bad album. https://variety.com/2026/film/ne...

Well, my break is over and I go back to work today. For reasons too long to explain in a toot, I haven't been able to listen to my usual podcasts since December. That changes today, and I can start on my backlog, only 95 hours to go. 😆 Luckily, I listen at work all day, every day, so hopefully, I'll get through a good ⅔ this shift.
