@mcnado@mstdn.social Yeah but those are what you and I would call "facts", and therefore irrelevant to gammons who don't use things like facts, truth and logic as inputs to their decision making process. They simply don't see these things as being relevant to their lives.

I have only just learned that Arthur C Clarke invented (as well as communications satellites and his many other inventions) modern LLM text generators. The story is The Steam-powered Word Processor, 1986, and includes: A vicar bored with writing sermons, which he realised consisted of subsets of the same text rearranged in slightly different ways each week "... conceived a machine which would automatically reassemble massed of text in any desired order ...". And to train it? "...

"How many watering cans full of water per day do I have to carry down the garden to keep the frog pond topped up whilst there's a hosepipe ban" is not a piece of arithmetic I've ever had to do before.

@jacqui76@mastodon.ie That is a really good photo. What it just taken by someone passing with a phone having really good luck with the timing? Or was the traffic kept out of the way of the professional photographer, and pedestrians kept out of the way, apart from the actor dressed up as a lawyer?

@ExtinctionR@social.rebellion.global Actually "natural gas" was simply to distinguish it from the more familiar "coal gas", and indicated that the gas came out of the ground as is, it didn't need to be manufactured.

@BBCRD@social.bbc @BBC_News_Labs@social.bbc How about a flag to say whether or not a headline came straight from a Tory press release? Or a flag on non-existent BBC stories (that are all over the non-BBC media) to explain why the BBC has chosen not to cover them?

@FluentInFinance@mastodon.social Well, round here, "paid for college" wasn't included, because it was free. That's one thing that's changed.

@ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club It's only a slightly modernised variant of them googling the answers to the questions during the interview.

"In past decade"? - this is as close as the BBC can get to saying "yet another #brexshit benefit". (Though to be fair they do actually mention Covid this time.) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c20q07w3gl9o

@davetroy@toad.social It's a straightforward scam whereby not-very-bright countries are conned into donating £1bn to Trump and his family, isn't it?

RE: https://mastodon.scot/@BenartyComputer/116522316335913051 *Almost* all the excuses for not voting (only almost, because of course there are real reasons as well), including the ones in that cartoon, are lies, with the real reason being "I can't be arsed to get myself down to the polling station".

@ryanc Even for a Z80 it's not a trivial answer. (Yes I do know someone who wrote some code that used the R register.)
