    > I personally recommend watching the video at 1.4x playback speed, if not at least 1.25 times 100% agreed, it feels like Salt makes his videos and then slows it down by at least 25%. When playing at 1.25 times it feels totally natural. A higher speed is perfectly fine even, since the information density is very low. I know a lot of people like to do some drugs and vibe out to Salt videos, but it kind of annoys me. The length of his videos have gotten longer and longer and I feel like the...

    > I’ll be honest, I don’t actually know what all the physics in those papers means. That’s not my job and not my expertise. Well maybe not the right dude to ask then? My 2 cents: we'll never get to any sort of practical quantum computer size. As size increases, decoherence becomes a bigger problem. This is currently fixed by having more qubits to compensate. But as the size grows, the amount of qubits needed just to compensate for decoherence grows faster. So there's a practical l...

On the other hand, I can get really annoyed when writers get stuff like that wrong. Especially when it’s crucial to the plot and it happens to be within my area of expertise. So I do appreciate writers that do their research. I’ve consulted on a couple of books and I’ve seen two kinds of fiction writers. The first one simply starts writing and only stops once the story is done. They might get writers block in between or reorder some stuff in editing (if they do editing, some don’t), but mostly...

YSK the finished PFAS in the end product like non stick pans is perfectly safe. The long molecules with strong carbon-fluoride bonds don't interact with biology at all. You can cut it up into tiny pieces and eat it, it will just come out the other end. Even if you were to implant it inside your body, it would do nothing. Actually materials like PTFE are often used for medical implants, specially because they are so inert and safe. So why is PFAS bad? Because in the production of the long m...

Someone send this to Randall Monroe, how fucked would we be if we actually created this piece of land?

Wait what do I do with my hands? No idea, I just let them hang awkwardly and lean forward like this.

Yeah but the machine is in ounces, where the can is in Florida ounces. Once you convert it's perfectly fine.
