    You know, with all the high tech tools, gadgets, and gewgaws at our disposal these days, I still don&#39;t see how anyone functions without a trusty notebook and pen close to hand at all times.     The more I think about it, actually owning something, whether it be media of some sort, self-hosted tech stuff, some random physical object, or really just anything that doesn&#39;t have any additional rental strings attached -- no matter how one acquired said item -- is one of the most cyberpunk (or maybe just plain punk) things one can do in today&#39;s society.     Well, I am no in the process of removing a previous black mark from my cyberpunk/hacker membership card as I have now finally started watching Serial Experiments Lain nearly 30 years since it first aired. I&#39;ve seen or read pretty much all the other seminal media in that particular genre, but never that one for some reason.
