Hmm, I was gonna use C++, but should I code my low-power embedded project with micropython? No. No, I should not. Good lord, Python sucks. "It's good for learning." No, *BASIC* is good for learning, Python is good for... um... things that are slightly too complex for a shell script? Math? No, use R or Octave. Can anyone explain what Python is good for that something else isn't *significantly* better for? Maybe it could be good as a replacement for Javascript? #Programm...

I'm not sure that dexamphetamine is the right ADHD medication for me. It does let me focus my attention but I'm finding it *really* hard to aim it properly. It's like trying to aim a 600x telescope without a viewfinder. More often than not I end up hyperfocused on procrastinating. Like what I'm doing right now. Maybe it would be good in a business setting where the direction is given from an external source and there are other people to keep you on task. #ADHD #AuDHD

4. Plant nutrient dispenser (a bunch of peristaltic pumps to measure out a specified dose) 5. A wifi-attached thermostat with a 4-colour e-paper display and simple, physical controls (I'm trying both a rotary encoder and a magnetic angle sensor with a "dumb" wheel that has a magnet embedded in it, I also considered doing something truly out there, like a retractable string that you pull out and attach to various hooks on the wall at regular intervals to indicate what temperature y...

If only Harley knew that the only thing she needs to win their trust is to keep wagging her tail and let them pounce without pouncing back. When she gets their attention, though, she gets nervous and stops wagging.

I think I've solved the problem with the kittens drinking out of my bedside table water: sparkling water. They took a sniff and then looked at it like it called their mother a dog. Then they retreated and sat staring at it for several minutes as if it might attack them if they looked away. 🤣🤣🤣

I find it hard sometime not to pronounce the word "Magician" as "Magic Ian." They're all named Ian, even though most of them will lie, it's all part of the illusion.

@LangerJan It's at an angle, which means it's Empok Nor, already a knockoff of the real thing. It's used when the crew wants to hold a paintball tournament but don't want to have to bother cleaning up after. Or prisoner exchanges, when they don't want to have to bother cleaning up after.

@MissingThePt You joke, but Trump forced FIFA to make up a peace prize to give him and, when everyone rightfully laughed at him, he then forced the actual peace prize recipient to give him her prize. Creating a half-time show in his State of the Union speech so that Kid Rock could play it is exactly the kind of redneck, circle-jerk, ego-stroke that utter waste of entropy would do.

@scalzi It was an utterly moronic idea to begin with. Why would you want to build a city that maximises travel time? And it would certainly not stay in a line, but would spread as people would start creating settlements outside important areas, then you'd just have a bunch of separate cities all in a line.

Yeah, sure I just spent like an hour writing a shell script to do some housekeeping while a game is running (repeatedly deprioritising the process and making it unlikely to get killed during low memory events) and, yes, over half of it was spent with the unnecessary fluff part that asks if you want to restart the game if it isn't running (like when it crashes).
