Paws 2 Spindle

Paws2Spindle@sunny.garden

After living with huskies for 2+ decades, we decided to do something with all the fur that we've collected over the years: spin it into yarn! Then knit it! More huskies and their outdoor adventures can be found over at @Paws2Trail.

Icon: a cartoon husky with bi-colored eyes winds yarn he's just spun onto a Turkish spindle. Starting on #TourDeFleece Stage #1 I finished off 2.5 oz of 50:50 Husky:wool blend on the e-spinner. This is 390yd of ~30-40 wpi singles which I plan to ply 2:1 with 100% husky yarn, spun on my Turkish spindle, trying to work up to 20 wpi. My goal is to pair this with my ~20 wpi heather gray 100% Rio husk yarn in a double-knit pattern. Also spent time preparing and organizing a month's worth of spinning to come! I have plenty of projects to keep me busy. #TDF2026 #Chiengora

RE: https://sunny.garden/@Paws2Spindle/116961470705350878 Question for fiber folks about moths: Last night, I forgot I had these skeins out drying until after dark. When I went to bring them in, a moth flew up from one of the skeins. These are a blend of wool and dog fur. Should I be worried that the moth might have laid eggs in the yarn? Should I throw them in the freezer or do something more drastic? I'm keeping them well separate from the rest of my stash for now. #Yarn #FiberArts #Ha...

I have defeated the Yarn Chicken! Yesterday it was nearly 80F/27C* and I finally finished the Harlow Worsted hat I've been working on the last couple of months of winter. I'm really happy with how it turned out! This should go nicely with the Wheat Scarf that I made using the same golden colored yarn. It's taller than the one I made with Oni's fur so I can get better ear coverage while still folding up the brim for contrast, and I think I got the height spot on...
