It's not just the Internet that's being ruined. I actually never answer my business telephone. The vast majority of incoming calls are telemarketers or scams, so I only pick up when caller ID matches an existing client, and hope that a legitimate caller will leave a voicemail. And now the AI voicemails are getting more sophisticated. Most of my life, I couldn't have possibly imagined any circumstances that would lead me to abandon tech, but I'm getting there.

I've never understood how naval mines could be practical. First of all, they would need to be really small. Second, how do you get access to someone's bellybutton? And what if they're an outie?

I have always loved bike-riding. In high school I rode all over the county, and even won prizes in a couple of bike-a-thons. I didn't ride much in college or grad school, but after getting a real job and starting a family, I got more serious about it. By the mid-2000s I was commuting to downtown #PDX on a recumbent bike, but my knees started hurting persistently. I had severe osteoarthritis in both knees, and the pain would eventually force me to give up cycling. Now, after two dec...
