Now for a #FingerpostFriday #BikeTooter doublebill (a doublebill doublebill?) A recent scene from a 3-day tour in the Welsh Marches. After the climb from Clun I was happy to stop for a breather and record this fine example of #fractionalAccuracyInRoadSignDistances. Seems both a pity, yet also fitting, that this peach is hidden away in the middle of nowhere: What3Words ///brighter.page.limitless

RE: https://apobangpo.space/@bich/116474047459818138 Public benches: they're often places where well-intentioned idealism crashes into the rocks of the sad reality of the world. But i guess they can be settings for some of life's nicer moments too. "Benches are symbols of hospitality, an invitation to participate in the civic realm". The fact that they're becoming less common (if the article is correct) is a bit bleak.

Present-day British army officer replying to a request for restitution of war booty. Quoted in The African Kingdom of Gold: Britain and the Asante Treasure by Barnaby Phillips 1/2

Scene from a #poetry reading: "Another approached the microphone, lifting her iPhone like an amulet, and whispered: “My bees are my poetry, and I ask them to speak for me.” She then held her screen to the microphone... We then enjoyed the surprisingly soothing drone of bees for several minutes – a techno-pastoral that would have impressed the Dada poets at the Cabaret Voltaire." Ernest Hilbert, Poetry readings I have known, TLS 6403 #Bees

"The structure of Aqua is the increasingly commonplace one in which some authorial life crisis frames a wider nonfictional inquiry. It is easy to see how this structure promised to support the mutual flourishing of personal and political concerns that Chiara Barzini rightly aims for. The fact that it doesn’t stands as a warning that what was once – back when H Is for Hawk meant Helen Macdonald’s book, not the film – a new, freeing approach might now, in some cases, be a limiting templat...
