Hey @jfmezei@cosocial.ca, do you remember the Chines aircraft that lost a cockpit window over the Himalayas a few years ago? There's now a Mayday - Air Crash Investigation episode about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phDSGovZbME

@jcolp@oceanplayground.social It's definitely well located! The pier is right next door, and the citadel isn't too far away.

@jcolp@oceanplayground.social I've stayed at that hotel! It's a very nice place.

Busy weekend. I've made both bread and pizza. No, I'm not opening a restaurant or bakery. 😁

New morning weigh-in: 185 lbs. I've lost 45 lbs since October.

So I ordered this silly thing, a uleFone Armor Mini 5 keypad phone. I want to find out if such a phone is still usable in this day and age. It's slightly smaller in width and height than my Armor Mini 20, and 2/3 the thickness.

Ugh! Tried to set up an account with Freedom Mobile, but their system is horribly broken! I've wasted too much time on this. Does anyone know where I can get a cheap plan for my upcoming backup phone? The original data requirement was 40 GB for the year at $15/month after taxes.

RE: https://mstdn.ca/@Milnoc/116682478232374838 This phone is making me go down a deep rabbit hole of constraints and compromises. I can't imagine the technological, financial, and political headaches the company had to go through just to make this thing.

Further progress on my weight loss. Last October, I weighed 230 lbs. Last month, I hit 190 lbs. This morning, I weighed 186.8 lbs. I'm not ill. I simply cut out sugar from my diet. That stuff was killing me.

If you haven't noticed, I've updated my ten year old profile picture with one taken last weekend. My face now looks thinner. I lost 36 lbs / 16 kg in 6 months. And it's still falling! My pant size dropped from 44 to 36 inches!

@markmccaughrean@mastodon.social I didn't have a TV at the time, but I could get CBC 6 Montreal's audio signal on my FM radio. I was listening to the launch when things went silent and the flight announcer said "obviously a major malfunction." It took a few seconds before they started describing what had just happened.
