Our rhododendrons are blooming, but they’re not doing well. A combination of poor soil, a harsh winter, and squirrel hunger. Maybe we’ll try to refresh them, maybe we’ll replace them. They don’t get much direct sunlight because our large oak trees shade them.

If I created a site called Today in Handsome Dudes, today’s post would feature Will Reeve, Christopher Reeve’s son and correspondent for ABC News and GMA3 regular. Curiously Will doesn’t have a Wikipedia page (privacy concerns?) and there’s not much internet bio that I could find on him, but you see him all over ABC.

This isn’t original but: Once your hear it, you’ll never hear the song the same way again: “Right about now, the Easter Bunny. Check it out now, the Easter Bunny…” https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=wD6jCMn5nq0&si=X0LGxdhFlQYtz-fX #90s

Half Man (HBO) is a tough watch. Written by and starring Richard Gadd, who also wrote and starred in Baby Reindeer. It’s almost unbearably suspenseful and tense, thanks to Gadd’s explosive character. You never know where the explosions will land, and the plot twists are neck-wrenching. It’s tough, but I keep watching.

@angiebaby I’d love to see that, too.

2/3 I’ll be adding people slowly. If you’re tired of my shit (and frankly, who isn’t?), now’s a good time to unfollow me. My new display name is Squalid Splendor. It could easily be Splendid Squalor. You can call me almost anything.

3/3 Squalid Splendor will feature less politics than this site. To be sure, I still loathe Trump and all his filthy enablers, including anyone who’s ever voted for him or supported him. My hatred for these evil people is white hot. But I also have serious anger “issues”, and my rage will overwhelm me if I’m not vigilant.

If you want to follow me, I’ve moved to @NewMike I won’t be posting here any more. The new instance will feature less of me raging about politics and more of me oversharing about myself. And gay stuff. Today in Handsome Dudes will be a regular feature there, along with mostly Safe For Work gay stuff (if it’s NSFW I’ll post a CW). The splash page looks like this:

RE: https://masto.ai/@Nonilex/116580030425981796 Pretext, preface, and justification for its stranglehold on Cuba and eventual (imminent?) invasion. Good thing Cuba doesn’t have any serious armed forces to defend itself, because the US shot its wad in Iran & Venezuela, and now we’re running out of ammo. But Trump needs another distraction from the Epstein files and his crime family’s asset stripping of the US and the ongoing destruction of what was left of democracy.

I just bought this book. It will help distract me from my excessive screen addiction. I’ve been following the author for many years and generally like his work. I’ll let you know what I think.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@publicdomainrev/116527462671082376 Before it was called the Eiffel Tower, it was known as La Tour de Trois Cent Mètres (The Three Hundred Meter Tower). High-brow Parisian artists and writers hated it at first, but eventually it was a huge popular success following its creation for the Exposition Universelle de 1889. London thought about creating its own Eiffel Tower and called for proposals. The project was never completed, but here are some of the proposals.

Another musical interlude: 80s and 90s clubbing. Human League, (Keep Feeling) Fascination (Improvisation). simpler, happier times. https://music.apple.com/us/album/keep-feeling-fascination-improvisation/724297620?i=724297802

A musical interlude. Yes, I’ll shut up about politics for a minute. Here are the Pet Shop Boys performing “The Way It Used to Be” during their brief recent series of concerts in London called “Obscure”. I would have given my left nut to see every night of the different sets. The song was originally released on their under-appreciated and brilliant album “Yes”. I’ll put the link to the equally brilliant (and delightfully trippy) extended remix in the comments. https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=A...

RE: https://woof.group/@racebannon/116494490578192479 This is not an easy read, but it’s helping me get a grasp of what AI really means. I need to read it a few more times, and I’m not sure I’ll ever completely understand it. But it’s helping me move on from my original stance of “All AI is bad” to understanding what it is (and isn’t) and what it can (and can’t) do (yet). Of course, the possibility of malicious abuse is huge, which fuels my hostility to it.
