#ThreeGoodThings : 1. That my birdbath has a "deep end." 2. That six house sparrows in said birdbath effectively constitute "soup." 3. The inexpressible joy that wells up in me when one of them falls into said deep end. 🙃

#ThreeGoodThings : 1. There is a miniscule snail on my patio door, its baby shell so translucent I can see its entire body. It has moved a centimetre, perhaps all this morning. 2. Noble false widow spider escorted out of the house with due care. 3. Have decided the three daddy-longlegs living in my kitchen corner are Maggie, Millie, and Maude.

All of the recycling, planting trees, and boycotts aren't going to be worth a damn until corporations like these are legally, painfully forced to reduce emissions. Death to the petro-state! #ClimateChange https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jan/21/carbon-dioxide-co2-emissions-fossil-fuel-firms-study

This is fascinating. Humans don't have to leave earth for long or far before they start to forget what "human" means. "Every astronaut who spends more than a few months in orbit comes back describing some version of the same disorientation. Rain smells overwhelming. Fabric feels abrasive. Familiar streets feel piloted rather than driven. The Earth their bodies evolved for has become, briefly, a foreign planet their nervous system is re-learning in real time." #space...

Servers. Routers. Gateways. DNS. Power plants. Substations. Just because my little scribblings and photos don't count as targets for disruption on an international level doesn't mean collateral damage can't deny/erase it all. I'm not a programmer. I don't want to run a NAS or set up Docker instances. I want FOSS made for the reasonable citizen. Our data is ours. I welcome the current movements towards #digitalSovereignty , but I would like to see anything published on the subject from an individual standpoint. Personal digital sovereignty, if you will. As in not trusting my government, my state, or any corporate cloud. I'm moving my data onto #homecloud with all possible haste, because a thought occurred to me. I own my #homecloud. I own my data. What I do not own, nor do the providers own, is all of the infrastructure in between. 1/2

"Nature restoration, in other words, is as much a cultural task as an ecological one. The ecological crisis is, at its roots, a crisis of relationship....Responding to the global ecological crisis demands more than behavioural change, environmental awareness, or even rewilding. It calls for deep cultural and ontological repair." #rewilding #solarpunk #culture https://substack.com/home/post/p-191469892
