Nice move, #Waterfox – 6.7.4 "Adds 'Disable AI in search results' under Settings → Search, enabled by default." And brings RSS discovery back 😍

WTF has #GitLab gone full bullshit with AI. You can only disable #GitlabDuo via an API request using e.g. CURL? And only on a self-hosted Community Edition, instance-wide, and if you're administrator of it? Honestly? I'm so glad we left there half a year ago… Thank you so much, @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de , for NOT going that road! 🤗

@fdroidorg@floss.social please don't. It was disappointing enough with Debian already: https://gitlab.com/fdroid/admin/-/work_items/699 One should never forget: the people who control access to #GenAI technology today, will tomorrow be the ones who exercise total control over #FOSS projects which embrace GenAI. We can tell first hand, that setting up a policy for that is not done overnight. But you could at least "strongly discourage" until you have one, no, #FDroid ?

An ad company just appraised us their services – to our CoC mail. The only answer we could think of was: "Thank you for self-reporting your violation. We have now blocked your domain." 🤪

Ui, we're not alone, who'd have guessed. The F-Droid.org mirror at FAU (Friedrich-Alexander-University) meanwhile shows the following text if you try to download an APK file using your web browser: Unfortunately, Google abuses "SafeSearch" to flag our fdroid-mirror as "malicious" - because nobody is permitted to offer .apk-files for download other than the Google Play Store! As most browsers are dumb enough to trust "SafeSearch" to flag … (1/2) #Google #Sa...

RE: https://hachyderm.io/@davidculley/116837726982363407 So dear European banks, who you force your customers to use apps from Apple/Google stores or-else, and didn't want to listen ever: what are you going to do now? * binding your customers to US stores: illegal * using those analytic frameworks: illegal * using Apple/Google cloud messaging: illegal * your apps: illegal? * most of your branches: closed ("go online!"). * banking: how? The shield got broken. Happy sovereignty!...

Wow – pure SnakeOil, those so-called anti-virus or anti-malware scanners! "we are unable to proceed with the whitelisting request unless the application is available on the Google Play Store"?!? WTF?!? 🤯 And yes, that's part of a real response a dev got. So they claim: your app is malware, as long as it is not at Google Play. I'd say we've heard it the other way around, too… #SnakeOil #AntiVirus #MalwareScanner #falsePositive #Google

For the 5th time this month, Google marks us red for alleged malware they cannot even name. Can someone please shut that automatic bullshit generator down, please? For number lovers: during the past 31 days, the #IzzyOnDroid repo saw almost 800,000 APK downloads – which roughly corresponds to 18 APKs/minute, or 1 APK every 3 seconds. And that's only from our main server, not counting the mirrors (coming soon™). Detail lovers can head over to https://stats.izzyondroid.org/ and dig in 😉

Seems like the question of #GitHub becoming fully unusable is not "if", but rather "when". We feel the issues now for the 5th month, and it's getting worse by the day. Today, out of 13 builds, 12 failed – either because of stalling when cloning the repo from GitHub or one of the submodules, or some other GitHub error message. Some builds we had to run 8 times to finally pass (and some of those only to find out their recipe needs adjustments, as e.g. th...

Please note that we are moving our last remaining GitLab repo to Codeberg, bit by bit. We cannot simply migrate it, as it needs to be split up – and due to a strange GitLab bug, we cannot replace the issue template they use by default (as it is found nowhere, and we could not find any way to contact GitLab support for that). ‼️ So please: file new App Inclusion Requests at https://codeberg.org/IzzyOnDroid/repodata Also issues for metadata changes, or other related things. Thank you! #service...

Did I say GitHub became mostly unusable? > The main driver is a rapid change in how software is being built. Since the second half of December 2025, agentic development workflows have accelerated sharply. By nearly every measure, the direction is already clear: repository creation, pull request activity, API usage, automation, and large-repository workloads are all growing quickly. https://github.blog/news-insights/company-news/an-update-on-github-availability/ "agentic develo...

@fdroidorg @marcprux And while the banner correctly states F-Droid being under threat: it's not just F-Droid, it's the free Android world being under threat. In its entirety. So the same applies to IzzyOnDroid – but also to Obtainium & Co. And if you think you could still use Aurora to access the PlayStore, think again: how would you install Aurora in the first place? This is the empire striking. The alleged "security" is just a way to circumvent the requirement to open fo...

did the poor company behind #GitHub run out of servers, I wonder? Or are they all busy with Aaah and Ihhh? Get this even on a reload. Explains why we see that many update checks (and builds) fail because they cannot reach any. Is it already 9 o'clock, and how many times? 🤔

Remember? "Sideloading" is here to stay, and won't go away, they said? Don't be afraid, they said? Something something "we heard you"? Suuuure! Who would ever doubt it! Attached the copy of a mail developers with apps in the PlayStore CURRENTLY receive. Please, read the text in the red box carefully: "Apps not registered by September 2026 WILL NO LONGER BE INSTALLABLE ON CERTIFIED ANDROID DEVICES in select countries." See an exception there?
