"The 9[am] to 5[pm]" is a common term for one's regular job, on the basis that normal people start work at 09:00 and finish at 17:00. I've worked a few jobs and closest I've ever gotten to this is 08:00 to 17:00, which I gather is standard. Are there real jobs where people actually start at 9 and finish at 5?

The terms themselves are somewhat vague and slippery. Marx and Engels used them interchangeably. The USSR and China really tainted the word *communism*, which is why *socialism* is much more common nowadays. As I understand it, communism is a form of socialism. Socialism is ultimately about worker control over the means of production, rather than private capital. As such, socialists inherently support strong unions, and the sensible ones also support social welfare, minimum wage, and basic inco...

He's a massive fan if The Beatles. He has their entire discography on vinyl records in good condition. (He bought them in the 1970s; I don't know if that is more or less impressive). He also likes Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzie, and The Horslips. He has a bunch of their records, too. There's also some Pink Floyd in there.
