Really could not be more thrilled to realize the Hard Rock's new guitar tower *completely blocks* what used to be a clear view of Trump's tower from a mid-Strip vantage point.

Gonna borrow a word from W to say it would be FABULOUS if the dam finally breaks on the Trumps’ shamelessly open corruption. Not the entire article, but the gist.

I'm enjoying vintage establishing shots. Like the meta quality of Shirley MacLaine the Vegas headliner 20 years after Shirley MacLaine in a standout cameo of drunken flirtation with Dean Martin in OCEANS 11.

I've always liked Washington DC but have no desire to be there, even momentarily, while fascist goons run the place.

Before I knew that 10,000 step thing was just a pedometer marketing thing—that’s 5 miles!—I thought it was a kind of crazy target. Because I wasn’t sure how people who didn’t take intentional walks, commute on foot and/or walk constantly at work could reasonably hit it. Anyway, what’s your step count in a typical day?

Oh, that’ll be useful. A lot of incompetents and sycophants advising the moron in chief on a resolution for what might be the most spectacularly idiotic unforced error in the history of American foreign policy.

OH NO! You must go and order the garlic noodles before Crustacean closes for good. Fucking property developers. (The noodles are remarkably cheap but be aware—if the server casually asks if you want prawns—that the price will more than triple haha.)

They’re playing Roxette and—now—this mainly bums me out about Marie Fredriksson dying.

Continuing my tradition of the least manly injuries possible. (I fractured my wrist flying a kite, for instance.) Managed to gash my shin this weekend on the corner of a chaise longue haha.

I recall being told as a kid in the ‘70s that Mercedes-Benz handle design—like my 1973 450 SLC—was a safety feature: Doors could be pulled open by rescuers. Being conscious of this is why Tesla-style designs have always made me nervous—that’s even before all the electronic nonsense.

I’m sometimes shocked when remarketing is so profoundly decoupled from everything a brand should know about me. Yes, I clicked on these trunks. But they are available only in a 40 waist when I never purchase anything but medium or 34.

Heading to a Howard Jones show—the Things Can Only Get Better tour—and his unusually optimistic vibe, merely quaint during the Reagan era, really hasn’t held up, has it?

Berlin’s Pleasure Victim and Missing Persons’ Spring Session M were both released in October 1982. And while 11-year-old Mats tried to decide whether he were more into Terri Nunn or Dale Bozzio—as if he had a chance with either haha—a major element of the attraction was that their songs were so smart. ‘Masquerade’ and ‘Metro,’ ‘Words’ and ‘Destination Unknown.’

You know there’s some vanity sizing going on at a brand when I’m buying some swim trunks in a small!

Good golly—reminding me of a similar break under Sunset Boulevard several miles west between UCLA and the Bel-Air Country Club. Also so big it took forever to fix. This intersection has been incredibly important in my life. That small yellow sign to the left is Book Soup and the building with Supreme logos—directly across the street—used to be Tower Records.

Bless your heart, Top Gear. This is a Mark V. (We can give the Brits a break—all the US malaise-era stuff looks alike.)

RIP Randolph Mantooth. I loved EMERGENCY! so much when I was a kid. Heard once that a spike in the baby name Gage -- seemingly out of nowhere -- was traced back to new parents having grown up with the show, too.

But back to everyone losing their SNAP benefits. I really wish I could watch all these fake Christians explain to Jesus how they took food out of the mouths of the poor because principles.

RE: https://weird.autos/@dan/116859822443969479 For what it’s worth, I rented both a Tesla and a Polestar when my car was in the shop for a bit and—strictly on merits—I liked the Polestar so much better.

A largely original Paul Williams on 1.3 Miradero Road acres is about as perfect as it gets anyhow. But considering what houses in Beverly Hills routinely list for now, $18 million seems incredibly reasonable.

You know you’ve lived in a city for a minute when a manager at a restaurant approaches and turns out to be someone you knew as a server at another restaurant. (Thrilled for her advancement!)

On a Toyota. Possibly just be an ironic joke. Or maybe making the point a lot of us always knew he’s an asshat—didn’t need a Nazi salute or DOGE to finally shun Tesla. Or—given the UFC license plate—might be just be mocking sarcasm.

Gonna quote a quote from a mutual’s locked account. THE fundamental assessment, and one I’ve shared ever since I first became aware of him through the lens of my deep immersion in mid-80s Boston Brahmin culture haha. ‘Fran Lebowitz told the Guardian in 2018 “You do not know anyone as stupid as Donald Trump, you just don’t."’
